Is something wrong with me? That movie doesn't look all that bad to me...

If you are a true fan of the Darko Universe then you will want more, be it another move, a comic book, a novel, etc... I liked S. Darko but it is not as good as the first movie since it does not blend the darkness with the humor that the original did. It is still dark just lacks the humor. I liked it for its own reasons though as its own movie. Some people will get a really good mate then compare everyone else in their life who comes after to that one person which is unfair to everyone else. The same goes for movies.

Sane adulthood is entrapment in a world without magic, in a real world.

I am a big fan of Donnie Darko and I loved the second one. Although different...it was a continuation and not a sequel. Well done. I wouldn't mind watching a third. This time expanding our knowledge of the theory of time travel.

Is S. Darko actually a sequel to Donnie Darko though?
Are the plots of both films connected and/or can you look at S.Darko as a stand alone film?

I loved Donnie Darko but I over watched it and can't bring my self to ever watching it again....

Donnie Darko. What a beautiful piece. To those people who made comments about all the money it made blah blah blah.

Donnie Darko was created like most films that have a cult following. It's a fluke that it ended up being so popular.

I normally dont have much of a problem with sequels, but it is not right to do a second Donnie Darko. The whole thing of the film was to get people thinking, to think outside the box and create something new. I studied Donnie Darko for film and to make a sequel will destroy some of the messages the film created for people. Everyone has their own view on what Donnie Darko is about and to make a sequel will answer too many questions, questions that in the first film that are not meant to be answered for some people.

The trailer for the film looks amazing, but too hollywood. Donnie Darko was different, not hollywood. The director of DD only should Donnie's powers 2/3 of the way through the film, not just because of budget reasons, but to create mystery. So the audience asks questions. The new film seems to have a lot of special effects (while good of other films) which takes away the effect DD had on so many people. Even the advertising for DD was different, in England it was advertised by graffiti over London and an Art Show as well, it added to DD effect that cannot be recreated. Donnie Darko is art, the new one looks like a normal hollywood film. While the film looks like it would be good, it show not be anything to do with Donnie Darko (my own opinion).

Why shouldn't the questions posed be answered for those who didn't get it in the first movie...

I can understand where people come from when they say you can't sequel a masterpiece, it's not true you can and some have done it well. While this movie is obviously not as good as the first (never seen it yet) it doesn't seem like it will be that bad.

For those who worry about the first film in relation to this should just relax and watch the 2 in different context each as stand alone movies.
