I can't see this ending well. First it's way too soon to do a relaunch. Second you have the crazy Buffy fans pissed at you. Third...making it darker? Buffy got pretty damn dark.

Wasn't Angel more popular than Buffy? And it actually had a cliffhanger it ended on!

They should leave it be.

Buffy and Angel only got to where they were, due to Whedons sarcastic / pop culture references. I don't think anyone can bring a Vampire Slayer to the same light, if it does not include Joss Whedon.

And why name it "Buffy" again, and go on about it being in a different time. Makes little sense, but again, they should leave it be. They'll tarnish the name.

The first film came out in 1992. So 17 years not long enough? It's based on the first movie, not the t.v series in any way.

Hell yeah. This movie is bound to cop a whole load of flak.

The original movie didn't get that dark. Which like I said, is what this is about. It has nothing to do with the tv series.

Oh, jeeze. I don't care that it'd be a whole "new Buffy". I don't see it piquing anyone's interest, outside the crazy, rabid Whedon fans (yay, crazy rabid Whedon fans! wub.gif ) who'd tear it apart (they're rabid I say).

And yes, Angel was far better than Buffy, until that last crap-tastic season.

Agreeing with Ins0minac. It has been a long while since the film, I saw it then and wished it was darker, the only thing is it is not going to have SMG so I hope they find a decent actress. Cameron Richardson would make a good slayer...

I think they need to change the character dramatically so she isn't lame and cheesy... Like ditch the whole 'I'm just a ditsy blond cheerleader' etc. Make her more of a serious character this time etc.

If they try to make the movie as non campy as they can, it could easily work as a new movie. With all the craze being vampire etc right now, this movie will get some serious bang at the box office.

Definitely agreeing with you m8 With good writing, direction, and production it could be better than everything Buffy before this.
