It is said that, this is not the first time, in respect to a 250,000 year history, that we have developed similar technology to what we have today. The Legend I speak of states that within the time frame of Homo-Sapiens existence there have been cities which rivaled New York, what we today call deserts, were the location of such metropolises. Some have suggested that they whose letters and language were different were actually more advanced. The Legend also states that our planet periodically experiences a crustal pole shift and this periodic event is what resulted in there destruction.

Prisons which were equivalent or better than ours survived to the extent that humans were able to continue and restore what existed then today

Any thoughts?

PS: For the record this was suposed to have happened recently.

I heard on astronomer on Coast to Coast AM who suggested that the growth of life and then eventual destruction is maybe sort of a planetary cycle, and that other planets in our own solar system may have gone through this cycle in the past and even though they are desolate now, beneath the surface closer to a warm core there are maybe simple organisms that might eventually come to surface and evolve into more complex life, and maybe Earth just happens to be on the part of the cycle where life has flourished.

Yes this legend does present the same issue but it also makes clear that somehow this time around the same events will not occur. A crustal pole shift is not easy to accomplish without a mass extinction to a degree that would cause mankind and most all life to become extinct. But a small asteroid (about the size of Everest) if it hit the mid Atlantic ridge or what corresponds to it, around South America and into the Pacific might do just that.

See the mantle is actually very solid and if enough energy hits the above area it will disperse, more than likely between the crust and mantle and then the crust moves.

In a world and civilization constructed of dirt and straw brick - imagine its foundation being buried by time over the past 200,000 years.  In the past 15 years the public discovery of a cave with a 200 meter opening was discovered.  It is beleived larger than the 365 mile cave system in the southern United States - Kentucky.

If a standing cave system is lost to the public at large, perhaps a 200,000 year old structural foundation is still lost and the architecture was lost with time.

The Sphinx was practically buried at one point.  What about structures made not of stone.

Shouldn't this be in the Alternative History section?

These Legends are a part of a philosophy an intent in being they were presented to me, is to raise awareness.
