The site is reporting that 20th Century Fox is reluctant to greenlight the film with Rinsch, primarily a TV commercial director, at the helm and wants to have director Ridley Scott at the helm. Rinsch has worked for Scott's company, RSA, for years now and the site also claims that Rinsch not only works for Scott's company, but is romantically involved with his daughter, Jordan.
Neither Scott nor Rinsch responded to the site's inital report.

While this movie could be really awesome if it captures the feel of the first.... I feel they would be making a grave mistake not to include the Ripley character and Sigourney Weaver. She is an essential part of this franchise.
Was I the only one who liked Alien 3?

While i'd like to see Ripley in it i'm not sure how they'd fit her in seen as her first encounter with them wasn't until the events of the first movie which would presumably be set after the new one given that its a prequel.

In regards to the prequel I think the best way they should go would be to return to the formula of the first while expanding upon it for a new generation.... What made the first movie so amazing was that it was actually scary for guys, the movie attacked the audience sexually something that hadn't been done before like this.... What guy wants to be face raped and impregnated with an alien chest burster.
Alien more then anything is a horror movie and the prequel/reboot hopefully also takes this approach and makes the aliens scary again.
