LoL. Yeah, in horror flicks nothing good ever comes from having sex. And running up stairs is somethimes your only option but i still agree. Why not run for the front door. The tentacle might managae to grab you but it will grab you for sure if you run upstairs.

how about the idea of never answer the telephone after midnight or during late night hours by your self? or never breathe a lot when hiding away from the killer that's on the loose. Then last but not least, as stated in Murphy's Law of Combat, Team mates are esscential, it gives the enemy other people to shoot at. But in a horror film, it's other people to kill besides you.

Well, that's because sex is EVIL and those who engage in it need to be punished. Yeesh!
