If you read the article it was the family that promoted it not Disney/Pixar. It was an extremely noble gesture on their part, and increases my respect for them 10 fold.

Sane adulthood is entrapment in a world without magic, in a real world.

I don't get it...the kids parents had to frantically call Pixar?

Was their internet down or something? Or are they that much against piracy?

The PR guy at Pixar was definetly thinking about publicity or he would just say "go ahead and steal it so I don't have to bother sending someone out to you".

I am half skeptic and half believer, I have all of their strengths and none of their weaknesses.

The public became more aware of the recession when they watched - Deal or No Deal, the presenter went to call the banker and there was no one there !! LOL

Or perhaps different people have different opinions.

There was time after the movie that I'm willing to bet she spent having "quality time".

For those who are calling this a publicity stunt by Pixar - if you notice, the article is in a local paper, not a national one, and the family/family friend is the one who told the paper about it, not Disney/Pixar. I commend them for NOT using it for publicity - if they had, it would have gone straight to a national publication.

I give them props for granting a dying girl's wish - and am sure the 7 hours she lived after the movie was done were well spent with her parents, whom the article said were there the whole time, and were with her when she died.

All the cynicism about what was a genuinely nice gesture is kind of disheartening. hmm.gif

she was to weak to go out to a theatre and the family knew she didn't have much time left so they made a frantic call to Pixar who sent a man with a DVD copy of the movie for a private screening in her home. The girl died 7 hours after watching the movie. It's a nice story and it's a wonderful thing that pixar did for the young girl. it brings a few tears to your eyes when you read it

That's kind of a messed up movie to show a kid a few hours before you die. It's about a little kid with his whole life ahead of him and an old man reminiscing about his in the winter of his life.

It would've made me depressed if I was dieing and I just got done watching it.

I guess it was a kind gesture though.

edit: typo

If she wanted to see it with her family, I think thats wonderful ...and to read that her mother was right there explaining the movie to her -well thats heart wrenching. RIP Little one

I totally agree with you BQ, and if i could have shared my daughters last moments on earth, i too would have wanted to give her anything she wished for!
