Agreed. Everything you said.

It was a kid's television series. Period. A Saturday morning cartoon for little boys. Adults are going to see the movie because of Fox, sure, but you absolutely cannot forget the little kids that are going to see it because it makes their favorite cartoon come to life. It's a bad way to start them off. Get them off on movies like this while they're young, and when they're fourteen they'll go straight for movies like Tropic Thunder for a laugh. Fourteen year olds do not need to watch Tropic Thunder, for the same reason six year olds do not need to watch Transformers: Revenge... :/

I miss the days of classical Disney. Brutal stories with a harsh truth and reality, strong lessons and morals, realistic, powerful characters. Sigh. Gone are the days.

Oh how I miss those days too. And your right, it's a bad influence on their little minds, and it should have been for the kids.

i thought it was the best film ive seen this year, but there was 2 flaws i found with it. right at the begging, at the first 5/10 mintes, i found it confusing to establish the heroes and villains and right at the end i didnt like the ending, it was too typical. someone dies, they come back to life, bit of love, bit of death, straight into another fight, 2 minutes, bad guy dies, end.

The movie was complete rubbish for too many reasons.

I think it was possible worse then Wolverine and I fear that GI Joe is actually going to bar worse then that.

At least it was better then Dragonball...but thats like saying a big piece of poo is worse then a smaller piece of poo, it's still poo.

Star Trek was the only thing this year that I can consider to be good.

I loved the movie because it did have a little more sense of humor behind of it and it is more targeted at Teenagers than kids that's five or six, I don't know where ya'll think it's targeted at five or six year olds because the movie is also rate PG-13.

A movie's rating has nothing to do with how the company markets it. For example, Dark Knight was also rated PG-13, but was not marketed for children. It was intended for teenage to adult viewing audiences and it was rated and marketed as such. Transformers intended for young children to come, and given that, people ignore the rating.

Perhaps you aren't aware but, Taken, Watchmen and Star Trek came out this year.

Well duh. If a supporting actresses physical attractiveness is the only thing a movie has going for it, I don't see how that's a plus at all.

I didn't really see this movie being targeted at little kids, especially not by the trailers. And i don't see why it has to be. Just because its based on a kids show doesn't mean its suitable for little kids.
Take the new Harry Potter that's coming out. Its based on what is accepted as a kids book, but it looks like it'll be a pretty dark movie and probably not overly suitable for nine year old kids.

My biggest problem with Transformers 2 was the pretty blatant racial stereotypes in it. You'd think that such a big budget movie wouldn't have to depend on stereotypical racial characters in order to try to reel in cheap laughs

Harry Potter is rated PG. It may be dark, but the entire movie isn't one big sexual innuendo.

Dark or not, HP is about life and acceptance. In both the books and movies, kids get lessons and morals about what is right and wrong in this world. Life isn't all butterflies and daises, I think you'd see even that in Disney films. But kids learn from it, believe it or not, because it's actually realistic. As BM just said, as well, it isn't one *yay i got filtered*! innuendo either. Death is a fact of life, and I think HP has several good ways on how to handle it. However, looking at the rear-end of a pretty girl in tight pants ain't exactly what you'd call a good life lesson.

This is Megan Fox we're talking about here, epitome of "hot chick." Top that off with giant killer robots. Your man card is now revoked forever!

i think you guys fail to realize that this film was indeed based on a kids cartoon but the kids who watched that cartoon are now approximatly 18+ years old. Kids will still definatly want to see this but the film is aiming at the true transformers fans which as i said are now older i watched the show when i was a kid im 19 now and i have the chance to see my childhood show jump to life. if you guys would have prefered transformers to be made for todays children audience we would have ourselfs another dragonball on our hands. Dragonball also a show for people who are now quite a bit older aimed at the kids of present times and completly jumped over the real fans of the show. Due to this and many other reasons im sure we can all agree on that movie was a pile of crap

Kids still watch the cartoon, it doesn't matter than some are 18+, it's still a kids cartoon, aired for kids on Saturday morning. Fact is, the show might be old, but its still aired and targeted to kids. You might grow up with the show, but it's aired continuously as new generations come to start watching Saturday morning shows--they, too, will eventually grow up with Transformers. STILL. Doesn't matter, kids watch the cartoon, kids will want to see the movie, regardless of who grew up with it. Filmmakers should have realized children are still the primary audience. It is a child's cartoon, children will continue to watch it until it's removed from the far reaches of space.

But, as some people grow up, they most likely grow out of their childhood. I grew up with Dragonball, but had no desire to view the live-action movie. I bet you a lot of people felt the same way about Transformers. Children are the targeted audience of the cartoon, it doesn't change to cater to the aging fans, the cartoon stays the same. Why the movie needs to change is beyond me.
