I don't know if this is good news or bad news. It would be wonderful for the world to have this new ability, but on the other hand, I do not want it to be proven.

The current state of fMRI is far from being able to read minds. In fact just interpreting the data is something of an artform today. This is a great example of media getting it wrong when they only hear a far future implication of current research.

Utter rubbish, it has absolutely nothing to do with that at all, all it does it looks at areas of activity with in the brain. The writer of that article is clearly complete with out comprehension of this or is a blatant liar.
