Another "I have no idea what it was, so it must have been aliens/demons/ghosts/nessie.."... tabloid BS story!!

It looked like something form one space movie, what was it? I can't remember, but it seemed to small to even be a UFO probe.

I would love to see what kind of swatter you would use to take down and prove one of these rods to actually be an insect.  If you can bring one down in action and show real proof that a rod is an insect then I will believe .

They ARE insects--perfectly ordinary insects. As you correctly observe, they are a videographic artifact based on the frame capture rate of the videocam versus the wingbeat frequency of the insects. Essentially what you see is several wingbeat cycles of the insect on each frame of the video, creating the illusion of a "rod" with bulges along its length. The blurred body of the insect as it moves forward forms the "rod," and the oscillation of the wings up and down form the bulges. Anyone with a video camera can duplicate the effect, if you shoot enough footage of flying insects from the right distance.

Makes sense. similar idea when a car hits a certain speed, the wheels appear to be turning towards the opposite direction.

  • Are you looking for secrets? Is that it? Maybe I can give you one. Do you want to know what the ultimate secret is?

Posted 08 August 2009 - 04:07 PM

Its clearly not a bird. Maybe if i had more experiencewith video footage maybe. But its not a bird. Maybe some other kind of something like a lense anomoly.
