Feeling others' physical pain

Hey guys,

Yes, it's me again, starting yet another topic. Curious minds want to know, what else can I say?

If someone can give me some advice here I'd really appreciate it.

As you may have read in other posts, I can feel other peoples' physical pain. What I want to know is, how am I supposed to know, when I'm feeling pain, if it's my own or someone else's? And if it's someone else's, whose? I don't have to be in the same room with a person when I do this, so it makes it hard for me to tell. Does anyone have any tips, short of calling everyone I know and asking them if they're experiencing any pain?

If someone needs a doctor, either myself or someone I care about or know, I'd like to know who to schedule the appointment for!

(By the way, none of you is having an asthma attack now, huh? Because I don't have asthma, but my throat is constricting as I write this...) crying.gifcrying.gifcrying.gif

Sry I can't help you but I know what you mean about how hard it is to wright about what is happening to you. When I posted my storie I broke down and had to try again later and even then I was extremly emotional when I did it (thats why the spelling and grammer is so bad). Good luck!

Hey Jenk,

Where'd you post your story? I'd like to read it.

And I think I may have figured out who was having the throat problems. My friend's boyfriend has had a respiratory infection for the past few days, and whenever I'm around him, my throat just feels a bit sore. The three of us got in a car today, and for the whole car ride my throat felt an intensified really nondescript kind of sore. Then it felt normal again once we were out of the car.

My major problem here, why I decided to start this thread, is that I channel the most pain when I'm most stressed. All this past week, with my finals approaching, I've just been hit with a barrage of aches and pains in a lot of unconnected places. A lot of it's probably stress-related, but it's hard to tell what is due to stress, what is someone else's pain, and what could possibly be something wrong with me. It's turned me into a hypochondriac! I just want to feel my own normal aches and pains again!

Please, anyone with this kind of experience, I need some advice here!!!

Have you done any other tests on yourself, whether or not you're actually feeling other people's pain. It maybe wishful thinking on your part. However, that wouldn't explain your throat constricting during your first post.

Whatever you do, don't go to a psychologist, they'll probably send you to the psychiatric ward for some drugs to alleviate this "illness" that they may not even understand. Call a local doctor who you know won't send you to psychologist.

Here's a test, try hurting someone intentionally, and see whether or not you feel it as well... whistling2.gif

Umm, you could try..uh, looking for a constant. something that's the same or similar each time you feel someone else's pain.

Or perhaps it's just sympathy pain! Whenever they take my sisser to the hospital, my side hurts alot, cus she's got a lotta promblems with her kidney and stuff.

Have you told your friends about this? If you have you might be able to set up an experimant if you feel comfertable enough with it (I most likly wouldn't). The experimant could be you in a room with a friend blind folded and them paining them self in a place and you have to tell were they are being hurt. I would most likly never do this as I said but it's just a thought. This would not help solve the problem but would at least I.D. it. If you want to read my post it's in the experiances area titled "I need help".

I wish I could help you identify them, but unfortunately, I only tend to feel people's pain when I'm healing them. Otherwise, the only pains I feel are my own.

I agree that a test is a good thing, of course, being careful about it. Then again, we all have some 'dumb' friends who aren't too shy about banging their head against a wall just for the hell of it.

Hmmm, some good ideas here. Thanks! It would make sense for two or more friends to "hurt" themselves, so then I can try to determine who the pain is coming from.

Before I do this, though, I'm gonna need to let a few more people in on what I can do. Not easy when you're surrounded by eggheads and skeptics!

I've had a lot of trouble with this in the past... feeling others illness, but mainly emotional pain. I'm very empathic.

The emotional pain was the most challenging to differ if it was me or someone else. But with a lot of practise, better judgements, intuition...I've learned to know if its me or who.

I don't exactly know how to explaine this, but when it's others, it's a different feeling...I found out after years of experiences. Sometimes I get the feeling when I pass a stranger or a friend...either a chakra of mine acts up or I get a pain and then I tune my energy into the person I've senced to betroubled or do a "universe" scan to see who it is. When I tap in, I ask their soul for permission or I directly ask the person... usually if it's someone I know. What I suppose to see will be shown. Sometimes I also do a check on me because afterall, we all are interconnected somehow.

I also had to learn to seperate myself from others.

I learned various auric healing practises over many years, but rarely practised because this was dangerous for me. To protect myself with white light, angles and spirit guides would only help little...it was me that needed to learn to seperate myself- learn self-love...and so on.

(I think part of the problem was due to some co-dependancy issues primarly dealing with others emotional pain. I never wanted anyone to experience emotional tramua thefore I'd try to take it away and soak it into me...sometimes I did this out of habit not really focusing on it. And I often heard that people felt better after being around me.

On another occasion to mention, my live-in partner at the time had frequent migraines and that lead to frequent break of plans and I didn't like seeing her in so much pain... It's extremely rare that I even get a headache and then I started having a headache pretty much nonstop until we broke-up.)

Well, lets see...Some things that helped keep my energy with me rather than feeding "psychic vampires"...this may help you to see whether it's you or someone else...

1) Learn to seperate yourself and if you find yourself reading/feeling anothers energy...ackowledge, accept and send love.

2) Hold your hand over your solar plex. (stomach)...it helps prevent your energy from feeding and receiving.

3) Cross your wrists and ankles.

4) Or you can make a triangle with your two fore fingers and thumbs.

I wouldn't advise to do healing work yet until you've learned seperation (if this is the needed case), but there are various ways I scan others energies...sensing others energies, seeing their auras (I trained myself to do this), using a crystal wand, I can do it with sage smoke, and using my own energy to scan...when using tools, my energy and intuition, I receive a different vibration when I find stuck energy, then I usually look for the auric color and that gives me another validation to what the health problem is.

You can also scan your own body!!!

So I don't know if this helps...I've also senced others energies on the internet without a photo, but in anycase, my abilites either just happen or I tune into it since I've learned to pretty much control it. I think it has much to do with self-disovery.

I just think the most important thing is learning seperation and learning how to shut off or to at least keep your intuition at a certain minimum, leaving yourself open to gather info for when you want it. I am very psychic in many ways and without my learning to seperate and learning how to shut off abiliteis, I think I may have turned nuts!

I hope this helps!

Yay!!! Someone else who understands!!!

Yes, this helps immensely, just to know that it can be done. I've been intuitive and have just known some things I couldn't know for a very long time. All of this empath stuff, however, has just started coming to my attention these past few months. It seems to happen most when I'm the most stressed out, and since I'm in my first year of med school, I'm stressed out pretty much on a daily basis. So all of this stuff starts happening, but then I don't really have time to deal with it and give it the attention it deserves because I'm so busy. Which only adds to my stress, because every time I feel a pain, I start wondering if it's something wrong with me, and you get the picture...

Thank God, I just have one test left on Friday, and then I'm off for two months! And finally get to do the research on all this stuff that I've been dying to do for so long. Thanks so much for sharing all the info from your experience. It sounds like you've been through a lot. And that's awesome that you try to use your ability to help people! Do you have a good starting off point for simple exercises, meditations, etc?

well, everyone's different. what works for me may not work for you!

follow your intuition and ask the universe and your higher-self to help guide you to where you need to be and from whom to learn from.

trust your intuition.

just because a book was published or a teacher is giving a lecture doesn't mean every word holds truth for you!

To anyone who also feels others' physical pain:

When you experience this, do you find the pains to be kind of nondescript? Or do you feel what is specifically being described by the person they're coming from? Also, do you find cars in particular to be a problem?

For ex: I was with my father at a movie yesterday. He's been having problems with his neck lately because he has a degenerative disk that's acting up. While we were in the movie, I didn't notice any pain. But then we get in the car, and my neck starts hurting with this nondescript pain. It was just kind of universally sore, I don't know how else to describe it. Of course, I could've been holding my head in an awkward position in the movie theater, and the pain could have been my own.

But as I posted earlier, this happened before with a friend who had a sore throat. I didn't really feel it until we got in the car. If I can make this connection, maybe it can help me figure out a way to determine what pain is my own and what is someone else's.

At any rate, my psychic and empathic occurrences have slowed down a bit now that school is over. I guess with me, stress really is a trigger. Yay disgust.gif .

Hey gufzoo. Your posts are very interesting. I can be seperated from my gf by thousands of miles and if she gets pain in her abdomen i can sense it and feel it. But shes the only person Ive been able to sense physical pain, that I know of. Emotional pain I can feel from pretty much anybody, who has alot of it. Bieng close to people, walking past them on the street or in the mall, I get a pretty good sense for what emotional pain is in ther life. And sometimes, like Serena, i feel like I want to take that pain from them and take it upon me. Its very bizzare. This often happens to me with complete and total strangers, and also people I know. I dont know how to control it, or shield myself from others peoples pain and yea sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming, and occasionaly extreme. Its like Im hypersensitive on a seep spiritual emotional plain. Just wanted to let you know I do understand where you are coming from. Having empathy I find helps me understand people better, and its easier to get along with people. A while back someone posted a bunch of empath stuff, and I found it pretty interesting.

I was so excited to know there are other's like me. I have sympathetic pains. I have started to realize I have sympathetic emotions. The things some of you has said has really astounded me. Its just weird to read that other's have the same issues. Just yesterday my knee was hurting me with no reason, I spoke with a friend that is 3 1/2 hours away from me, that ran a 26 mile marathon and had some massive knee pain. As soon as the pain was identified, my pain stopped. This is one of many examples. I consider this a gift. I just try to listen to my body and identify if the pain is mine or not. I am typically good at guessing what is wrong with someone with no sympathy pains. Again I feel this is a gift. Serena made a good point with passing people and certain energies from them. I think it is an important connection and especially to be able to identify the positive and the negative and know how to direct it/deal with it. I am a firm believer in God and I also feel these gifts are from Him. We are connected to each other and to the world we live in. We have all been given different gifts. This site has proven to me that I am not alone and it helps me understand my purpose a little more. I know I have purpose, but there is a calling and I am trying to narrow that down. lol I am greatful to be connected by this site and certainly feel like I was directed here for a reason. Thank you for sharing and I will return for more posts.

Emotional pain? That would be empathy. Physical pain? That's something entirely different that may require the assistance of a physician. There are many unexplained things "out there", but not everything can or should be associated with the otherworldly. After all, it wouldn't be prudent to be so quick to jump to conclusions, now would it?

Well, that's easy enough to answer. People want to be special. Or maybe some of them *do* have special powers of some kind. Or they believe they do.

Regrettably, I do not, but if I did I wouldn't go about telling everybody. There's be no sense in doing such a thing, especially if my powers involve mind control. The world would never see me coming and far be it for me to spoil the surprise.

I am not saying what I felt what otherwordly. But there was one thing I experience.

It was just after 11am I forgot exactly what date it was a few years back I felt a very sharp pain in my chest where my heart was and became very weak I thought for sure I was having a heart attack. I fell to the ground and was crawling I could not get up. I started praying outloud to Jesus and God which is something I never do its not my beliefs. I keep saying I do not want to die over and over. I was saying I am sorry as well. I past out woke up a few minutes later. I felt fine no pain nothing.

A few hours later my mom came over told there something wrong at my sisters so we went and there was a streak of blood in her apartment on the floor. A guy who had been shot right below his heart walk into my sister's place fell crawling on the floors. She called the cops while he crawl to her bathroom. During this time he was praying outloud to jesus and god and was saying outloud I am sorry and I don't want to die over and over before he past out.

This happen right after 11am the same time I was going thru my "pain". This freak me out a bit. A very weird experience. I am not saying what I felt was his pain but a weird coincidence.

I think people can just speak more freely now days(in most countries)without fear of being burned for being a witch for example, as they did in the past.

I agree with all of you. Everyone wants to feel special and like they provide some sort of value to others and this world other than sucking air. However, this is something I have experience as far back as I can remember. I have tried to deny it or sum it up as coincidences. It always comes back. Always. So as far as I am concerned, well I never talked about it to anyone other than my mom until recently. It was comforting to know that I am not the only one out there, that I am not crazy. Its just weird. HA! I did just call myself weird. Thanks for your input, positive or negative, its an opinion. Take care and again, thank you for taking time out to respond.

I have similar experiences with pain and emotions. For example this lady fell face first on the ground, she had tripped and it felt like the wind was knocked out of me and i rushed over to help. She was okay but I could tell she was hurt on the inside, embarrassed and I felt embarrassed and hurt and upset the rest of the day.

Well, I don't think any of that requires explanation outside of basic psychology.
