Yes, yes... again we all know it's fake just like 98.5% of urban legends out there. My question wasn't is the rake real as in an actual physical being. My question was does anyone know if the rake existed as an urban legend before the creepy pasta I quoted was posted.

I wish people would read posts before just answering what they thought the question was.

Thanks DA.

It seems as if everyone just reposts the original story that was posted here.

Hahahaha

She stands out in a crowd, she thinks out loud to save her breath, with a portrait of her parents death.

  • A circle is the reflection of eternity. It has no beginning and it has no end - and if you put several circles over each other, then you get a spiral.

i think this sounds like somone trying to extend the slender man ARG, very similar behaviour, just a little more anamalistic

Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.

I originally thought that as well, the Rake is actually mentioned in the SA forum where they created MR. Slim, but these posts about the Rake go back a few years where as SM is only a few months old.

The moral of the story is: don't build your hospital in the middle of a lake. People just drown trying to get to you.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse...A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

^haha.

So, it seems that this story started around 2006ish? Can anyone find anything dating back further then 2006?

It's a pretty good story, I enjoyed it.

It's a decent story, though the writing isn't the best I've ever read. I was tempted to do an editing job on the thing, actually.

I don't think it's creepy exactly, but then, the Rake always makes me picture the ghoul from Pickman's Model by Lovecraft. Yeaaah.

No, it seems to have originated as just a story on the internet, and actually, if I remember correctly, inspired the slender man myths, instead of the other way around.

The rake really is a comedy goldmine.

Grant me this at least, man differs more from man than man from beast....

Um, that is a creepy story.

Not heard it before I'm afraid, although I do recall seeing something about 'the rake' someehere. I'll look around.

On a side note, I'm now looking at the ED page for creepypasta, and some of the stuff on there is very, very weird. Indeed, "when you see/read it you will be displeased" is the correct sentiment.

OK. Sorry, didn't realize how vague the post was when I made it.

There is a "creature" referred to as "the Rake", he is described as being a thin, pale human/oid.

Here is a story posted as a "creepypasta". Something about this seems so familiar though. Which is why I am asking if it actually exists as an urban legend.
Super creepy story, never heard anything like it. Now I am intrigued!
