Okay guys so i have been thinking a lot about this. I believe in psychics and even went to see one. What if we were to put them under scientific conditions? I am thinking that we can do X-Ray on their body to see what is happening inside
Thermal Imagery to see the heat exchange(Ghost Hunters did this and got pretty interesting results to)
Take a DNA sample to see if their is a mutation that occurred in their genome or if their is a family history of psychic abilities, and then compare these results to other "so called psychics".
Do MRI Scan on their head before and after they do a reading to see what kind of brain wave activity they get and compare results I think if they do this than we can separate the frauds from the true psychics

Some peopele call me pyschic I call myself intuttive.

Ive had over 3 million in medical testing.
I've had a ton of MRI's, CT scans with and without dy, PET scan, SPECT scan out in CA, along with numerous x-rays. None of them show anything out of the ordinary. The only one that does in the SPECT scan showing I have a slightly larger part of hte gyrus than most. Other than that they haven't dectected anything abnormal.

Though I've had over six yrs of other weird medical problems, the lastest being of the liver and 'unidentified' mutated virus. So, apparently people that have mental ablities if you want to call it that, have a lot of physical issues. So, I've seen overall.

Sorry to hear about your unidentified virus. I wonder why the only thing that came up abnormal was in the SPECT scan. I didn't think of any disease that might cause paranormal powers. interesting

I don't think any disease would actually give you power, merely help you to see in a different perspective...thus being able to do things the average doesn't. For example you have a person with two legs, they are going to do things similiar to how the rest of society does things with two legs. However, you have another individual with only one leg, they are going to do the same project that a person with two legs does probably differently. They are going to find other alternatives. When you have a disease/sickness, disability if you want to survive you find other ways to excel at the same thing as the healthy person. TO do that probably going to have to thinnk differently...so that's why I'm saying people that have a lot of health issues tend to be strong empaths and other things because they've had to deal with that side (usually at a very young age). It's many factors not just one.

I would say that if there was a way to measure a person's apparent psychic abilities...scientifically...that would be awesome. But, the types of testing required (CAT scans, and the like) are rather expensive procedures and someone's gotta come up with funding for a project like this. I guess maybe the folks with all the cash aren't trying to endorse such scientific endeavors.

Maybe Sy-Fy should start a new series! lol! They got money like that! :w00t: Seriously, though that would be a cool show!
I like where your head's at OP!

well, you dont quite have pyschic powers.
but it is unfortunate that you have some type of virus right now.

as for proving psychic powers, many have attempted and always failed when put in with science, when they try to prove their powers. the answer as to why, seems quite obvious.

I see where you're coming from...in that, you probably don't believe in psychics- at all! No problem, for me! I do believe as do so many others. I'd love to see a study/experiment done to isolate and prove their abilities in a scientific manner.

As I continue thru life...my beliefs haven't necessarily veered off path, but evolved...and for every believer there are 3 skeptics, maybe! So, I have evolved along with the skeptics! I no longer accept things at face value to be fact...and I love the hunt for scientific proof!! In fact, I'm not satisfied until such proof is substansiated. The thing that keeps me curious...keeps me in pursuit...is the "what if" factor. And if there can be a "what if"...there is no hardcore proof in either direction!!! And, me being who I am...I thirst for knowledge of ALL sorts! So...I would be thrilled to learn of a scientific study...or series of studies that seeks to learn the truth about this so-called "psychic ability" phenomenon. If, for nothing more, than to heighten my awareness and knowledge of the subject that I formerly took "at face value" to be the final word, the only truth...yada yada!

We should never let ourselves get so arrogant, personally...as to think we have it all figured out! Nor, should we say definetely "yes" or "no" about ANY subject without having plenty of evidence to back up our claims!! Opinions should never be harbored for long without investigation! And, investigations should never cease until answers are found. If one is not willing to go to those lengths...one should edit their opinion and keep it to themselves.

NO DISRESPECT TO AGENT MULDER!!!! You didn't get super serious with your response! You're always awesome! I just wanted to talk to everyone...for a minute!!

whoah I never considered this!! When I was 6 or 7 years old I tried to get out of bed one Saturday morning and my legs could not take my weight without considerable pain........After an hour or so, I couldn't bend my legs or walk! My parents rushed me to hospital and I stayed there for 5 days, getting around by wheelchair, while they did all kinds of tests on me (a cousin had died due to a brain tumor and they were afraid that the same thing was happening to me) and found absolutely nothing wrong...well they told my parents it was "a virus" which, as you all know is medical speak for "I don't know"! After the first 3 days in hospital, my pain lessened and after the 5 days, I went home as if nothing had happened. To this day, no doctor I have spoken to (including friends who practise) has been able to explain to me what happened.......but my legs are not damaged or badly functioning at all now...it's as if nothing happened.

I was born 3 months premature, and have one kidney, weighed 3 pounds (though i'm very healthly and 5'11" about 140 pounds in sexy now ) and didn't have the best chance of living, and have pregonative dreams more and more often. Maybe theres some connections between something like this? who knows

I believe that their is, just because of the brain chemistry, but also life expierences and so forth...each is different. I was also born three months early, funny.

Parapsychologists have been testing for years in just these ways at the Univ. of Virginia and Univ. of Arizona. Work is also ongoing at Windbridge Institute in Arizona. To read more see here

im not sure of any testing available to check a psychics ability...as far as xray goes...i work in the radiology field...it wouldnt be a good idea to subject a person to various scans and studies...too much of a radiation dose... for something that isnt medically necessary...
