Some beliefs are much more out of touch with reality than others. Example: with Deists I can say maybe you are right.Who knows? A hunch/belief of a force/higher power that created the universe, belief in evolution and scientific facts. Not living in a state of denial. These are Deists.
Theist: ribs, dust, murder, jealousy, talking donkeys and snakes, an infantile, insecure tempremental god, excuses excuses. Ignoring/denial of scientific facts.

Atheists/Agnostics/non/Theists radical? :w00t:

If atheism is militant or fanatical, I can't wait to hear you describe religion.

Go read your bible/Quran.

Many believers often poke fun at Scientology (and yes they do amongst themselves-I hear it all the time >Islam, mormonism, Catholicism, Paganism, UFO buffs, believers of a different faith or branch often imply or call others who think differnetly delusional. Believers who don't believe the same thing as they do are often called delusional or misled. So lets not act as if this does not go on.

When I was with the baptist chrurch they were always mocking/making fun of Pagans, Atheists,Scientologists, JW's, Catholics, it was a regular "mock-fest" and almost all of them are guilty of it

But yet when we (skeptics) suspect Theists are delusional WATCH OUT. I guess because rational thought and facts scares the hell out of them. This is the real threat, because it can invoke doubt, doubt is very uncomfortable and causes emotional/intellectual discomfort. But that just shows there's still some grain of reality left in them. Otherwise there would not be this discomfort. So this is a good sign.

Today on conservative talk radio Atheists were referred to as the "Atheist-scum" by one that referred to himself to be a Christian-but hey, I don't care- I like to know what people are really thinking (even if its some people)

Looking back through the thread I did't see where anyone called you either offensive or insulting. Annoying, yes...and advising that calling people, who think differently, delusional is not the best way to open up a dialogue. I would say the same thing to a Christian that claimed people of any other belief or non-belief was delusional.

Define "God"?

T.I.G., please don't think that I'm engaging you in an oppositional/adversarial way; I'm not. What I'm getting at is different than Deism or Theism. I don't describe it very well. I'm an authentic Agnostic, so to me [G-d] is an Abstract Possibility. Does that make me delusional?

Tigs quoted:
"In my opinion yes all people who have a belief in a monotheistic religion are delusional to some extent."

gosh I'd be curious to see had you of not tried on that post....... genuinely, thanks for clearing that up...:tu:

I know eggy, I knew that was your point and I offered another way to look at Tigs post, before everyone gets all worked up and ruins the thread and derails it by vilifying the Kat ... what if he wasn't trying to stereotype?

IMO Tigs based on his posts so far is not unreasonable or seeking to offend , but seems to be an attempt at helping himself gain understanding IMO ..Sometimes atheists come here to heal in the S vr S area its in the rules expect things to get heated on occasion, just no personal attacks, his statement was not eggy........IMO and that is my point.....

If he gets out of hand we have report , so far he has not......:tu:

its okay with me it we agree to disagree. on this .....

I honestly think you misinterpreted my point altogether, and I really think you "other way" to look at it is a bit far off point.

Yes, that is what he said, and I stand by my statement saying this is a slippery slope we really don't want to go down. It's a little too all-encompassing. And how about polytheistic? Is that delusional too, or is that reasonable?

If I saw a christian calling other delusional for not being like them.......I would be in kinks.........especially if it was mainly aimed at atheists.....omg too funny

Why would I find it funny?................. because if you look at your lifes problems....and then you go on to a forum and see someone say you are delusional for holding a belief......<---that is like water off a ducks back...NOTHING compared to real problems you may be dealing with in real life...so you say- so what? OR if I am delusional for holding a belief.then you too are delusional for NOT holding that belief....nuff said....LOL

Michelle if the only problem I had to face was some sod coming on saying I am delusional for worshiping god.........holy donuts..that I would love to face...rather than face the real problem I have..........water off a ducks back

And maybe I am delusional...I LOVE IT <---now each time someone like TIG see's more and more believers say that............it would soon put them off making such rmarks..........trust me....it would

Look at it this way....you know I hold strong belief in god right? ....................IF you called me deluesional....over and over....and i showed you that It meant no insult to me..and laughed it off...........would you keep doing it? or would you think - ack to hell with that ..she is no fun?Posted Image in otherwords give up on it...

Kinna like when I was a kid, playing thunder and lightening (knock a door and run like lightening)....when we got a reaction...we loved it and kept going....when we didnt...........it was not fun..we stopped

If I called a guy a name and he laughed...even if I were serious...and he still laughed.....<--would anger me and put me off calling that name

I say....so what if he thinks believers are delusional..........he holds a right to view us all that way......
