Um. I do usually carry something capable of taking halfway decent pictures, BUT. My reaction to a potentially dangerous creature is more "Quick! Get the hell out", rather than "I'd better take pics or the guys at UM won't believe me!"

However, that said, I did take pictures of a bull the other day. :unsure2: It was bonny

Come on... who here doesn't have a camera?
Hell, of all the people who know who doesn't carry a phone with a camera in it?
or an iPod?
Or a camera?

They've become part of the things everyone carries all the time.
So the lack of photos of modern cryptids, of modern sightings at the very least, is irksome at the least and sign of blatant lying on the other.

The majority of people who responded admitted that they did not carry a camera with them and this probably reflects the majority of people, particularly in "the third world" where cryptids are more often seen and believed in.

Some cryptids, like 'dragons' (which could be many of the lake and sea cryptids), were long known for great intelligence, worshipped as gods around the world, and credited with giving humans various technologies. If some of this is true, they may nnow be wary of humans with cameras, and guns as well. Even small brained crocdiles are very wary of humans carrying guns. This may be why "Gustave" has been credited with taking over 200 humans in a place where every male of 12 may be carrying a powerful assault rifle.
"No doubt but there is none other beeste comparable to the mightie dragon in awesome power and majestie, and few so worthie of the diligent studies of wise men."
--Gildas Magnus, Ars Draconis, 1465

LOL, a few responses on a forum do not offer a good view of a worldwide situation.

Here is an old article I Googled. Back from 2004 in fact.

Digital camera sales to near 53 million in 2004

You lot are just cheap!!

If you want to find an animal or evidence, why not take a camera. I am disappointed people, the users of this forum shroud be well aware of the value of witness testimony.

I would disagree with third world countries having the vast majority of reports. Biff alone is a formidable cryptid with many adamant global followers even before we look at lake monsters.

Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space - Douglas Noel Adams

yes, I come from a "third world" country and neither me nor my friends have seen a cryptid or believe in one, The reason why cryptids are more often seen and believed in "The third world" is because of lack of education, You see, Education is out of reach for many many people here and these people are more likely going to believe stories of cryptids and legends.

Me and Most educated people i know here, don't believe in monsters, dragons etc but still there are MANY from the lesser backgrounds who do believe. Most people don't usually carry cameras around here but you get phones with a 2 MP camera for cheap.

Because people always walk around like crazed paparazzi camera at hand ready to snap anything that moves when they are either camping in the forest or wandering remote mountain trails?

If there was a clear pic, scofftics would just be saying that it's one of Ardmann animations models super imposed on a blue background with computer generated scenery....or something similar :D

I don't have a camera or anything portable with a camera.
When the unexplained happens, don't be so quick to jump to supernatural or paranormal conclusions. We live in a world where even the most bizarre of events has a completely natural explanation. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
