news.sky.com said:

Online gamers are the target of a "pervasive" computer worm which steals personal data, Microsoft has warned.

More than 4.9 million have been hit by the worm Taterf in the last six months, a rise of 156% compared to the previous six months.

Worm attacks have doubled while other threats, such as some Trojans and Adware, have decreased.

On average, seven UK computers were infected by a worm every hour during the first half of 2009, the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report said.

Taterf mainly targets massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs).

World Of Warcraft, Rainbow Island, Lineage, Gamania and Cabal Online are among the games affected.

All machines are venerable visiting all web sites, but for well know Anti Virus Softwear Copanies, and even they I wander about, I keep my PC's very clean, nothing Like a Nasty Virus.

I have only had one Trojan infiltrate one of my three PC’s not because I don’t go on Line and surf the Net, I am on line at all hours, and we run mutable servers, mutable accounts segregated, and we run mutable Spywares and very good antivirus software’s, I quarantine so many intrusions most all cookies, and just running a complete systems check and duel sweeps, them coming here, I can catch from 6 to 15 spy cookies, I know because I only come here and then again run a full system scan and sweep, just click here upon the site as a gest and you will see tons of advertisements links, and I have UM member posted links upon the Threads that my Virus software has outright flashed emanate warning to shut out of or risk possible Machine damages, Links to Microsoft Fix Bogus softwaer companies, and that’s a lot rubbish links, this very site is loaded with cookies and machines are venerable to those intrutions I know I kick them off my my machine sevral times daily, as are other web sites, Face book as had virus attacks including worm attacks that have trashed peoples hard drives dead in the water.

I'm pretty pathetic at most games so I don't bother with the online stuff that much. Although I did play Call of Duty 4 online, which was fun. I've never even heard of Rainbow Island, Gamania and Cabal.
I love you, Dr Johnson, and I want to have your babies...

This doesn't apply to console online gaming of course right?

Can you imaging if they have to close the site down, :unsure2: zombies would be walking the street lost as they try to work out where they are.

Anti-virus and Anti-spyware programs are up-to-date with these nasty worms so no biggie. Even if you have free edition software, you are good to go. It's only the lazy people who don't update or install internet security software that gets attacked.
