You needed a minimum of a 12" scope to view that crater in a way that was visable, and therefore worth it - the position of the crater was annoying low, and at a point which made viewing awkward for some, and with the mountains it was surrounded by made it even more difficult.....but quite a few amateurs did view it.......when was this footage taken? who took it? what equipment did they use?

Yes....I've just watched it a few times and slowed it right down.
(by tapping on pause you can view a few frames per second)

There's a lot going on in the seconds....42, 43, 44, 45...Prior to
what I presume is the 'main event' that starts at the end of second 45 +

It is interesting to go to full screen and watch it.

Don't focus on the big crater to the left of Cabeus.

Watch the area below Cabeus (small crater) and Cabeus area.

end of 0:42...something wizzes into Cabeus slightly from the right.

0:43...the two dots appear at the bottom and then part of the rim of the small crater (below Cabeus) LIGHTS UP.
They might have gone into the small crater in a split second?

0:44..a shadowy something wizzes into Cabeus. Rim of small crater darkens.

0:45...rim of small crater lights up again. At the same time as the main event 'UFO' begins from the BIG crater to the left of Cabeus. Then they go into the close-up thing.

So what's going on? Is this real footage with NO tampering? It says 'Austin News' in
lower right corner of screen. This COULD have been added...or NOT as the case may be.
Was this actual footage really on Austin News?

Is the whole thing genuine footage?

Is part of it genuine...ie. the blobs wizzing around in seconds 42,43,44 and the main event UFO was added to take attention away from that?

Or is it not genuine at all. To mess with our heads + create confusion?

Thanks for sharing it TRUEYOUTRUEME. This LCROSS Mission has LOTS more mileage in it.
I think there's going to be an 'official' release of some data findings in the middle
of November.

First, you should warn people to mute their speakers when videos include vile and rude noise (IMO).

Second, the satellite view simply shows shadows moving with the angle of the sun. It made no mention of the identity of the probe, which might be helpful.

Third, the Palomar "field of view is 71 km (40 arcseconds, with ~200m resolution), recorded at 2.1 microns wavelength."

I wonder what that means for the resolution of the moving Centaur probe. And, how visible it was at that temperature. Should we expect to see the probe? Or, any possible plume containing water, ice, or hydrogen?

My guess is they did not produce any dramatic results. I have not kept up with the mission, so I can't comment any further.

Interesting pictures, though.

The LCROSS team have been speaking at a SETI Institute Seminar.

The nitty gritty about data begins around 33 minutes.

I say nitty gritty...they make lots of comments like...

'incredible wealth of data'

'unexpected data'

'very strange things'

'wow, there's so much in there where do we begin'

BUT....they don't actually talk about the data itself...

Bit of a cliff hanger, LOL.

C'mon...let's have something more, you LCROSS lot. Spill the beans...

No need to guess. See my post above from another thread.
And what the LCROSS NASA-Ames team say about their data!
They seem to think it was pretty dramatic. Although we have
yet to hear what it was.

It was pretty dramatic...just the early returns and spectrometer data were tantalizing.

But if you're thinking that scientists use the word "dramatic" to describe something as bizarre as alien life, or some such thing, I think you'll be a little disappointed...

We'll see....what about Luna Ruins?

I'm sure you've read it already but Richard Hoagland says...

http://www.enterpris...SmokingGun2.htm

Quote

The remains of an amazing, ancient lunar city ... on images officially released by NASA ... from LCROSS.

and

Quote

A city covering ... literally ... thousands of square miles of lunar surface!

and

So, the obvious question has to be:

"How come!?--

"How come we are being allowed now to see all this truly unbelievable, amazing, official lunar evidence ... let alone, as it is being simultaneously released to all the media ... by the NASA LCROSS Project Office itself!?"

Which led me back to my earlier, political speculations -- concerning the real, long-term objectives of LCROSS ... all the way back to its "sudden origins" ... in 2007:

All the evidence we've now presented, increasingly supports the staggering idea that this, indeed, represents some sort of "rapidly accelerating LCROSS Plan ... for the imminent disclosure of--

'Intelligently-designed ruins' on the Moon!"

So it will be interesting to see what the NASA-Ames LCROSS team come up with in
the middle of November...

What-ever that may be.
