we are redoing our kitchen, which is from the 1830s, and behind the wall we found currency called "Hellers" and "pfennigs" which appears to be german. it says november 30, 1920, followed by roughly "reproduction will be punished" which leads me to believe its real. we found 20, 50, and 75 paper bills.

20h:
church on front stamped in green ink with flowers on either side of picture. also words "gemeinde nussdorf am attersee
on back the words "gemeinde nussdorf am attersee - gutschein uber zwanzig heller dieser schein wird bis 30 november 1920 von der gemeinde nussdorf eingelost. nachahmung wird bestraft. nussdorf. am 1. agust 1920 der burgermeister - anton wiestger
50h:
on front a picture of a town on a peninsula type coast area with a mountain in the background. and the words mondfee in oberofterr. and then some small print that i cant read.
on the back is a picture of a man and women working infront of a white blob that sort of looks like a topographic map type thing (it isnt) below that is the words mondfee in oberofterr again. to the right of that is a coat of arms with a typical shield shape with a sun/moon symbol at the top and below that is 3 men in 3 boats in water
75p(very strange):
on the front is a big red dog chasing two people, a man and woman, and in the background is a castle on a hill, with the entire mountain and building on fire. also the words nach reinem tode ging er drum als kettenhund zur grmfe um-3
on the back isa picture of a fortress on the coast which is in the shape of a big red star, with another smaller star in the middile with a town inside of it, and a regular town to the left across the water. tjere os a;sp tje words "vestungh:vechta(e? its sort of an A with 3 lines trailing off of it)to the left of it is a seal with gates to a castle in the center, and around it in a circle is vechte-1591+s'civitatis. at the bottom of the bill is "die sufhgheit __cantread___ 2 monat nach offentf aufkundig. vectsta-14 marz 1922 der magiftcat. in fine print at the bottom is "louis koch-halberstadt

does anyone know what any of these could be? we have searched for them for a while, and only found one partial picture of one. anyone with information please reply. i will be posting pictures later

Heller
The German Heller saw a resurrection in 1904 when the government took over responsibility for the currency of German East Africa from the German East Africa Company. The Heller was introduced as 1/100 of a Rupie instead of the pesa which had so far been a 1/64 of a rupie.

Pfennig

Not too much info in those two links, but they are most certainly German. Speculating, given the era I would say that previous owners of your home were immigrants from the war or possibly soldiers who brought the currency back with them.
I am half skeptic and half believer, I have all of their strengths and none of their weaknesses.

Definately German. I have a couple of Reichspfennig, one from 1939 and another from 1944 :)

What if it's like high school and all the cool dead people don't like me? Motzart will say he's busy. but oh I'll see him later with Shakespeare and Lincoln

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses
