Just about an hour ago, my stepfather and I were driving to get gas for his truck. As we're going down one of the local roads, I see an animal on the side of the road. It looked like a dog lying down, you know, with its head up and observing; its eyes glowed green in the headlights. However, it did not move. So then I thought it was dead. But if it was dead, wouldn't it have moved away in fear? From what I could tell, it looked like a greyhound. I saw those green eyes. It really didn't scare me because it really did look like a dog. What disturbs me is that it didn't move when its head was up, and it didn't look dead. Thoughts?

The animal's rear end was facing the road, the head was facing the woods. It covered the white line on the side of the road.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Someone already pointed out it might be used to cars. Also, it could have been sick. The only way it would be weird is if you were headed straight towards it and were just about to run it over. Even that wouldn't be too strange. If it were me, I would've thought the dog was injured or sick.
When the unexplained happens, don't be so quick to jump to supernatural or paranormal conclusions. We live in a world where even the most bizarre of events has a completely natural explanation. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Well, you are free to believe or conclude as you will, but I don't see anything in your post as unusual. I have seen dogs lie IN the road, in fact I have to drive around them when I visit my friend, they don't even perk up their ears - they just lie there in the middle of the road while cars angle to the shoulder of the road and go past them, they are so used to it and trusting or dumb, not sure which, that they feel zero threat.

Now me and my friend were driving down a road one night, and passed something that looked like a "fireplug", or fire hydrant, it was short, couple feet high maybe, almost cylindrical, very tight and composed, but with a roundish top - our guess is it was an owl - when we drove back by, it was gone. I've never seen anything like it.

one hell of a wierd owl but i wouldnt put it past it to be an owl especially if it was gone afterwards

So you probably saw a dog, and? I don't understand exactly what the problem is here... If you're worried that the dog might be hurt, then perhaps you should had stopped and checked if it was ok. It's probably too late for that now, but maybe you can ask around if there were any incident that night involving an animal where you saw it? :unsure2:
