The Congo is considered to be the deepest river in the world and apparently those murky waters are home to some unknown fish species. This article from Smithsonian Magazine offers a brief look into recent explorations of the deepest sections of the river and the apparently unique fish netted there.

Cheers sine!

I'd love to be able to see some of the species in the river. I could imagine it'd be interesting to catch a tiger fish.

Hi Mattshark! I had you in mind specifically when I posted that link so I am glad you enjoyed it. Apparently there are sections of the Congo that exceed 1000 feet in depth. I never knew that before reading the article. Amazing, I just can't fathom river depths that great.

Not in a river no, that is insane. Definitely not a river to swim in either! Really interesting to see though, so little is done on the life in the Congo River.

Yes, you would think by now the Congo River would be well settled knowledge but there is still so much to learn.

BTW I agree with your assessment of the Sea Shepard. I feel the same way about Green Peace.
