The Atlanta Humane Society announced Friday that it is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who took a Griffin police dog from its kennel, then shot and killed it.
The new reward is in addition to a $1,000 reward that had already been offered in the case.
Jimmi was a 2-year-old German shepherd that worked for the Griffin Police Department. His partner Officer Chad Moxon believes Jimmi was killed because he was police dog.
"He was not just a partner that I come to work with and said goodbye at time to clock out, we went home together -- we done everything together," said Moxon.
Moxon said Jimmi had a quite the personality and he was a hard-working dog. Jimmi was used to sniff out drugs, locate bodies and protect his partner. Moxon wishes he was home to protect Jimmi when someone took him.
"There were signs that someone had forced their way into the kennel," said Moxon.
Moxon said someone took Jimmi and another shepherd from his home Monday. Moxon and other Griffin officers passed out fliers and searched for the dogs. Both dogs were missing until Wednesday, that's when Moxon got at tip.
A dog that matched Jimmi's description was seen in a ditch on Rock Quarry Road in Culloden, Ga., about 7 miles from Jimmi's home.

Whoever did this is the sort of person that goes not after the person they want dead, but the family members/beloved ones (including pets). They know that this will hurt them more than killing the target themselves, by watching them suffer as everyone around them dies. So, my question is did this happen just because someone hated police. Or was this a more targeted crime, directed specifically at Moxon. If so, who did Moxon piss of? And is Moxon himself hiding something?

I would question just how that kennel was opened. I have friends who work with K-9 officers and their human partners. ANY law enforcement dog is highly trained to be on the alert 24/7 and will NOT respond positively towards anyone not a family member or their human partner.
One of two scenerios has to be fact:
Whoever took the dogs had to shoot both dogs with tranqulizers in order to get them out of the kennel without being attacked. K-9's, even at their home, will go into alert and, if necessary, attack mode against anyone not associated with their partner who shows any aggression or other unknown advance to family or to the dog themslves.
Both dogs would have been barking in rage at any outsider, they would not have gone quietly with an unknown person.
Whoever took the dogs knew the dogs well and the dogs knew them. The perp took the dogs for a reason, possibly revenge for an unknown reason.
