  • Always keep looking up...the truth is out there.

    Why shouldn't we believe?

I'm still looking for the truth...when I find it, I'll post it.

From - WBIR - Knoxville, TN

A Knoxville man has been arrested on charges of dragging a small Terrier-mix dog behind a truck in the Middlebrook Pike area Tuesday afternoon.

Jimmy Lovell, 45, whose nickname is "Dog," was arrested at his home on Pilkay Road and charged with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals.

Knoxville Police said, on Tuesday afternoon around 4:15 p.m., officers responded to a call that a driver was dragging a dog behind a vehicle on Liberty Street, just off Middlebrook Pike in West Knoxville.

"There was like 15, 20, 30 other people standing out there, just hollering at him, telling him, you're dragging a dog, just running down the street, telling him, stop, and he never would stop," said Ron Hurst, who witnessed the incident.

He was there with his friends, Robert Patton and Melissa Savage. They say Lovell kept driving, with the dog tied to the hitch of his truck.

When he finally stopped, they say he yelled at them, grabbed the dog, tossed the dog into his truck, and drove away.

"It was bad, he had blood all over (her,)" Hurst said of the dog. "It was just laying there in the seat, wasn't even moving, looked like it was dead."

Sadly a lot of crap like that happens around here--I live only about 60min out of Knoxville. One of my neighbors was driving behind a guy who threw a Yorkie out of their window, and they managed to stop and pick up the dog and get it to the vet in time. It's absolutely amazing how insensitive some people can be. I agree, in this case the punishment should reflect the crime. He ought to see how it feels to be drug behind a truck--and why not do it to scale? Drag him behind an eighteen wheeler speeding downhill.

God, what a monster. I agree, a nice chain and semi-truck are needed.

I don't agree with what he did, but I can see how little dogs can be the most horribly annoying, high maintenance creatures on the face of the planet. In many cases, little dogs have special needs, and that in itself is alot for anyone to deal with on a day to day basis, it wears very thin after a while. We have a chihuahua. It demands to be hand fed, won't eat it's food like a normal dog, doesn't come when it's called, takes 45 minutes to go to the bathroom 3-4x per day, submissive pees if there is a loud noise, only likes certain foods randomly including treats. I can't even imagine the amount of money we've spent on the damned thing. Took it to behaviour classes and all it did was sit there, hide, pee, and shake. We've about had it with this dog. Ugh! My parents have collie, a lassie type, and that dog is no trouble at all, and it's very VERY intelligent. Our Chi must be a moron or something.

It's not just yours. I hate those dogs. My parents used to have one. It was the meanest little thing. I'd walk in the door and the thing would, I swear this is true...he could stand at your feet and just jump straight up and down, almost up to my face, barking. I just wanted to wack it across the room. I was so glad when it died. Collies are beautiful. We had them the entire time I was growing up. If it was male we'd name it Laddie and if female it was Lassie. Collies and Golden Retrievers are the best dogs, friendliest and most loyal.

We had a Long Hair Chihuahua/Cocker mix; Tribble; and she was one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had. Her "sister" Satin (they were raised together), was a Bearded Collie; considered by breeders as the easiest dog to train. They both died of old age at home and are buried on our land next to each other. They are sorely missed :innocent: .

Most minature and toy breeds are too high-test for folks, they are mostly "One Person" dogs and should be raised with that in mind. If the owner is hyper because of the dogs "anxiety" the dog cannot be trained properly.
