how in the world does anyone know exactly what the mayan calandar means???? there is noone left to say what the symbols mean....so we just have someones interpretations...there isnt anyone left that knows the mayans definate language....

There are descendants of Mayans who still consider themselves to be 'Mayans' in the world today.
They all unanimously agree and are happy to tell anyone who will listen the true nature of the Mayan Calendar. (No, i is not an 'end' as overblown media hype will have us believe).
The study of ancient languages is also a profession one can learn through many years of dedication at Universities. The people who take these courses and go on to land prodigious jobs in the field studying ancient languages are expert scholars of their work and can interpret the text of lost languages for us to research.
There is no one left alive who speaks ancient Egyptian either, but we know what the Egyptians were saying in their murals.
