Ya XCrimsonX I saw the second movie (obligated by friend) and although the plot was practically non-existent until pretty much the end and I despise Bella, there were a couple of well done scenes, I'll give it that, I didn't find it as boring as the first one. The sad thing is Meyer could've done a lot with the idea itself, made strong characters...more of a back story with subplots, gosh what a waste. But I'd never take to her concept of Vampires.

Same here, there was no real "I'm gunna get ya" like with Van Helsing drastic and visually powerful. Underworld had that shivalrous feel, Blade in the end was action comical coz Ryan Renolds is just gorjuz!
Anyways.,.. lol

I loved Van Helsing; I don't see why so many reviewers and critics have problems with it.  It's supposed to be campy and quirky, these are not detrimental to the movie.

Nice find.

See...right there. Normal reaction!
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse...A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Definitely, at least there would have been attractive girl and someone with more personality than a pile of dog faeces.

SMG is quite attractive but a bit too old to play the lead in Twilight. Nothing wrong with K Stewart, definitely plays an attractive Bella. To be honest they made her look very plain in Twilight. I was like wtf it was sad when they made the guy look hawter than the girl in the first movie. She looked better in the second movie and nothing wrong with her looking plain either in the first, which just means she looks pretty even without tons of makeup on, which is good, and obviouslly she has awesome eyes (blink, blink, blink) and makes a perfect gasp.

I have noticed on a few threads some guys hating on the role of Edward. Jealousy perhaps? Never had quite the same amount of attention or girls fawn over you? Sorry, I just do not get the hate.

I also  consider the church quite priggish when going on and on about how such and such book is evil or has bad morals. No difference here.

As far as Bella and her romance, to paraphrase a quote from Sense and Sensibility (with Emma Thompson), there is nothing more romantic to die for than love. There is also in my opinionn nothing wrong with infatuation either or going on and on about how good someone looks if you really think so. So it is not love but still a very good feeling, oh my god a very good feeling, and love can always come later. If one does not feel intense attraction and infatuation with someone I doubt one can ever be truly happy when they take it to the next level.

I just got back from Hastings and there was a mom and teen daughter there looking for some book called The Girl Got Game.  The guy laughed when they told him the title as if the book sucks.  The mom says it's for her son and he laughed again.  Then the girl says "Well he likes Twilight, so he likes good books too" or something to that effect.  Made me laugh.

The Girl Got Game is a manga I believe. Oh and on that note I cannont wait for a Twilight graphic novel and anime. An American made cartoon would be OK too but they really dumb things down in them compared to Japanese ones.

Harry Potter! :D

Great stories...love the books, not to wrapped in the movies lately but oh well. I love how J.K Rowling weaves lots of little subplots into the main plot itself! She is a clever woman, and far more talented then Meyer, there is no comparing IMO Rowling flogs her A***! I was a late bloomer though, didn't read the first HP book till I was eleven. In fact as a kid I hated reading, but my teacher in primary forced us all too read, and I got hooked on the "Goosebumps" series LMAO! That's what got me started lol.

I do like Anne Rice...her writing can be a little annoying at times, but she still is much better then Meyer there is no comparison. A lot better in fact...but admittedly I've only read the first three Vampire books, Interview with the vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the damned. I have those three and have read them a lot luls. My fave though is definitely The Vampire lestat, I loved being in that characters head lol.

Yes people who read twilight might go and read the classics she mentioned, but I fear they won't appreciate them. :hmm:

I tried to the finish the first book.,.. but It was too teenieboppish for me! I like the comfortable overcast in the movie but the characters werent given any background to the story. Anne Rice is good like that she can jump from character and time and still explain the depth and background in each character.

The movie seemed a little too Degrassi for me! It was okay when I was 12!

There wasnt enough blood and guts and Edward could do with a good feed! If I hear Bella say,"I need you" one more time....  Erk. How the hell can you need the wolf in any way shape or form compaired to the moody vampire?? Okay acting but the character Bella, itself was disrespectful. You do or you dont! Bleh!! ;)= ;)= ;)= It was a good movie because of the special effects!
Taylor RAWWWKS! Love in the movies is overrated although shown exceptionally well!
I tell ya what they had better bring out the good stuff in the third movie!!

I used to love Degrassi!

Which Anne Rice would book would you or Moon recommend as being really good? I do not necessarily have to start with the first one either.

I liked that there was little blood, and yes, love was shown exceptionally well.

I am starting to like the birthday party scene as the best now.

I was determined to read from start to finish Anne Rices's Chronicals .,. so I'm bias!  :P Personally I found It was better to watch The Blade Trilogy in order, ya get a good feeling of the story line.
The same goes whilst reading them all. I liked the second one The Vampire Lestat best for Its Old historical feel and setting. I had started reading The Tale of The Body Thief but put it down in exchange for Stephen Kings IT at the time. Oh and Tennesse Williams The Glass Menagerie and To Kill A Mocking Bird from there I went straight to Richard Layman!!

Moon's responce will be good!! :tu:

Sounds like very good books and wow you read lots. I was afraid you would recommend reading them in order. One of my favorite genres of movies are like Scorned (with Shannon Tweed) and Poison Ivy so any book where the main lead is selfish and does what is needed to get their way I would most likely enjoy. I have a feeling Moon is way too innocent for such.

Hey Rose! Who you calling innocent!!!

Oh and thanks XcrimsomX

It's not that I can't take reding selfish characters...but it is harder to care about them. When I don't care about a character I lose interest in the story...however...

For example Lestat is quite a selfish character in many ways. But he is not without fault, and more importantly his actions and choices have consequences. For example in the first book when Lestat makes a little girl into a vampire, to see what happens and keep his companion Louis at his side, this has a devastating effect on the little one Claudia...She can never grow...but remains trapped in a 5-6 year old's body. Eventually she turns on him and tries to destroy Lestat, turning Louis from him also. Many of Lestat's selfish choices come back and bite him in the butt lol.

But not only is Bella selfish she is boring, at least Lestat acts like a devil! Bella, well selfish but still never fails to have everything perfectly pan out for her. Her family always forgive her, her friends always forgive her without question, the werewolf Jacob still loves and holds no grudges against her no matter what and overall her character gets exactly what she wants because the story is so unrealistically written. Nothing is brought to life.

But anyway, as for reading choice of Anne Rice vampire series...I'm going to be typical and say to read the first "Interview with the Vampire" which is basically about a depressed Vampire named Louis searching for answers along with Claudia. Simply because to read the others might get confusing when the story refers to events from the previous books which you have skipped. My favorite is "The Vampire Lestat", Queen of the damned would definitely be difficult to follow without having read at least the second.

Maybe for the same reasons all the girls on this thread also seem to be hating on Edward? Just a thought.

Can't agree, Bella is very bland looking and only has 1 facial expression. The problem is that the character isn't one who was ever developed or given depth.
