Hello all. I am trying to locate some information and or pictures on a UFO cult. I have used my google abilities as best as I could and came up empty handed. The cult was started by a man named Warren Goetz. The man "claimed to be an actual space person, having materialized as a baby in his (Earth) mother's arms while a saucer hovered overhead." The only info I could find was the name of a book he wrote called "The intelligence of the universe speaks" All I could find was used copy of the book for about $500 on amazon "http://www.amazon.com/intelligence-universe-speaks-Warren-Goetz/dp/B00072UZW4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265573652&sr=8-1" a video on youtube that shows a spacecraft he and his followers were making "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXSeRQ07vpI" and bibliography reference "http://ufobibliography.skepticreport.com/?p=1270" After this I am completely stuck. I do know that his cult was located in the DeTour Village area of Michigan I think. Please feel free to email me any potential info thanks!!!

It's a start...  Somehow, I don't think you're going to find much on the web, given that very few saucer cults managed to gain any kind of infamy outsid their local areas.

Do you wish to join, or study the Cult?

I do know that he was taken in for a princely sum by Otis Carr to develop the 4th dimension traveling saucer-shaped OTC-X1, which in turn was powered by a "revolutionary Utron Electric Accumulator." Utrons are the Aliens in TMNT aren't they?
I doubt I could tell you much, his birth story is nutty enough for me to to dismiss anything he says.

Cults are bad.

What sparked my interest was that he intended to fly a saucer into space made out of foam, wood, and aluminum framing and the fact that someone who seemed well rounded(evident in youtube vid) actually followed this individual.

I will be interested to see what you uncover. Good luck with it.

Just wanted to point out that if I was to fly into space, I'd use foam, wood, and aluminum foil.

You could try tracking down a copy of Douglas Curran's book In Advance of the Landing : Folk Concepts of Outer Space

Newspaper Arts and Entertainment piece -
Link to article

Omni Magazine Article

Images from his book

"Members of the Advanced Scientific Development Project... (text that appears below thumbnail- googling the name is less productive than you might be led to think)"
http://www.dougcurra...tm/iaotl_02.htm

Depending on what sparked your interest, it may be less frustrating to expand your study to include other cults that also built their own saucers.

Thanks. I'll look into your suggestions. The village where this cult supposedly was, DeTour Village, Michigan, is rumored to have adark past which included human sacrifices to bless the fertile land and forced isolation from the outside world. But then again it is just a rumor.

The "interesting" part being that someone actually believed in his nonsense,.. right!??

Maybe the aliens who crashed at Roswell used the same instructions to make theirs.

And maybe that's why they crashed.

Life is a hideous business, and from the background behind what we know of it peer daemoniacal hints of truth which make it sometimes a thousandfold more hideous.

Well, the Heaven's Gate cult believed in their brand of stuff so strongly (in their case it was a UFO in a comet) that they put on their black Nikes and drank the special Kool-Aid. Why people do this kind of thing amazes me to no end. :unsure2:
