star_child... my Imagecave account won't let me sign in, and i even tried making a new account. I have to put your avatar on the internet, and get a URL for it because the file size is over this forum's limit. so i'll keep trying, and once I finally get signed in, i'll have your avatar.  thumbsup.gif

and MJB, look for one that you like from this page, or the 2 following it, and tell me which one you like, and i can take the watermark off of it... and if you don't want one of those, then i'll see what i can do with some other picture...

I'd like either the angel fish with bubbles or the goldfish in the fishbowl please.

I also saw a one under flags, Canadian provinces, and I saw an Alberta flag I like (it's the large one on a pole)

Blinking tutorial

As animations go making them blink is one of the simplest to do and a good one to start off with. For this example I'm using an avatar briefly used by Janiel from the film "The Grudge".

Step 1
First I took the normal image that Janiel already had as his avatar and saved it to my computer as '01'...[See Fig.1]

Fig.1

Step 2
Next you have to find a colour suitable for an eyelid, usually this is a few shades darker than the charaters skin colour but in this case its all black, then we colour in half the eye, [See Fig.2] and save the image as '02'.

Step 3
Same as Step 2, just fill in the whole eye [See Fig.3]

Step 4
Now you just stick them all in your animator, remember that you'll need 4 frames, Fig.2 is needed twice, once for the eyelid going down, then once for it going up again. Make the timing as quick as possible for the blinking, with a nice long time for the first frame with the eye open, at least a few seconds.

In my example I've made it blink once, then a pause, then twice, but any combination of blinks is avaliable to you depending on how large a file you want your animation to be.

When your done it should look like this...

there's a link to the program that some of us use to animate on the first page i believe. Also, you can ask thebarman, or Jeremy Rumbolt, to email a different animator to you or send it through MSN.

MJB, the angelfish one is a toughy since the watermark goes right through the fish... but i did the others.

bad news MJB, the page with those animations on it is refusing to cooperate... the animations won't animate, and the quality of the pictures is terrible... i don't know why it's doing that... maybe if i try next time i turn on my computer... and also, the angelfish with bubbles is a difficult one to erase the watermark on because it goes through the fish... i can try to do that flag right now though.

Star_child, they were made by someone else... not me...

MJB, you have to pay to get the full size version of the animation without the watermark... i take the small thumbnail version, and just erase the watermark.

there ya go Star_Child... i had to take out a few frames to reduce file size, so it isn't as smooth as it used to be, but it's still ok in my opinion.

hope ya like it
