Seven suicides are recorded in the Bible.

I wonder how many suicides there have been 'because'
of the bible?

Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane
(8) 43 And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 44Now His betrayer had given them a signal, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him and lead Him away safely."
45As soon as he had come, immediately he went up to Him and said to Him, "Rabbi, Rabbi!" and kissed Him.
46Then they laid their hands on Him and took Him. 47And one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
48Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? 49I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled."
50Then they all forsook Him and fled.

A Young Man Flees Naked
51 Now a certain young man followed Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body. And the young men laid hold of him, 52and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.

This last part just makes me laugh.  Don't know why.  I can just invision this really serioius scenario of dragging off the Messiah and then this guy runs up and starts streakin.  Im sure it was some renting custom or something...but FUNNY none the less.  And it is only in Mark.  Why was he the one to record this?  Where were Matt, Mark and Lil Johnny?  Maybe they didn't have a sense of humor.

Only if the Bible is real and all evidence is that it isn't!

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

Here are random bible facts:

The word 'mystery' in the NKJ Bible is mentioned 21 times.
The word 'sky' in the NKJ Bible is mentioned 9 times.
The word 'lightning' in the NKJ Bible is mentioned 18 times.

1 Cor 15:52
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

hmmm. interesting.

If that's true then I have just failed RS. My coursework consisted of finding evidence to prove the accuracy of the old testament and there is loads of evidence to support it. There is evidence for a huge flood in mesopotamia, plagues in Egypt, non-christian legends of a man scarily similar to Abraham. I actually had to exceed my word limit!  ohmy.gif

Oh brave new world that has such creatures in it!

Where did you get your information?  As a long time student of history and archaeology I would have to see it to believe it.  Everything that you have stated is either false or shaded to the false.  There were several great flood in mesopotamia, of the Euphrates and the Tigiris - hardly world wide, no where in any egyptian document that I have heard of is there a mention of Joseph, Moses, plagues, Isrealites, or any of the mythology in the bible....Your legend about a man like Abraham was probably in reference to  Gilgamesh.  He was actually a King of Babylon, who had a story written about him - He was an actual person, Abraham probably wasn't.  I await edification with your sources and I hope it isn't from some biased website like answersingenesis or the ICR.

Very typical. Most people only believe what they see.

Since TA was referring to written material, I said seeing is believing, but yes I have seen a photo of starlight being bent by the gravity well of a star between us and the originating star. wacko.gif

The Bibles themselves are not holy, and we should all understand that. So, in my humble opinion, it makes little sense to have to swear on a bible for any reason.

You're correct, it's not the book that's holy it's the words and reflections
of people far wiser than us that is holy!

Angels offer ‘unconditional love’ – they set no rules, no standards to be fulfilled. Angels are here for us this instant, loving and guiding, giving us the support we need to move onwards and upwards towards spiritual enlightenment.

Here are two stories on one webpage that follow the text of the Old Testament, yet sound as if the accounts are entirely different: http://onealclan0.tripod.com/newsletter_au...august_2004.htm

This is a monthly newsletter that will be posted online at least until the end of this month and is entitled, "From Beyond Earth: The Second Arrival."

Fascinating.
