I found this show on BBC Iplayer about Atlantis.  It is called "Atlantis: The Evidence".

"In this Timewatch special, historian Bettany Hughes unravels one of the most intriguing mysteries of all time. She presents a series of geological, archaeological and historical clues to show that the legend of Atlantis was inspired by a real historical event - the greatest natural disaster of the ancient world."

I'm not sure if people outside of the UK can watch it though unfortunately, but I figured it would be pretty interesting.  I've not watched it myself yet though.

Unfortunately us in the U.S. can not view it, but I'm sure it was quite interesting, the topic of Atlantis usually is. I have heard of many archaeologist attempting to follow the map and directions described by Plato himself, but can never find anything (well, they just can't find Atlantis, they have actually found other buried ancient cities in the process, so not a total loss). But I have seen a program about the other archaeologist that were following the map and directions, but felt that the previous explorers were following it too closely. You see the later searchers have found that many of the landmarks on the map are no longer where they were at the time. Due to the earth shifting and gravitational pull many things have moved over all this time and they now feel that if they can pin point where these things used to be, they might stand a chance at actually finding the city in question if it in fact does exist.

Oddly enough, I just finished downloading this show about 15 minutes ago.

Power corrupts... absolute power is kinda neat!
