The reason I said it wasn't much of a definition is because the use of the term 'vampire'  implies a creature that sustains itself with the bodily fluids of another.  This has been the only constant in the vampire legends from when they were simply what we would refer to as ghouls to the modern day Lestat.

You, apparently, wish to redefine the word.  There really is no need.  There are a variety of supernatural creatures out there who feed on nothing but the 'life force' of humans, yet look exactly like us in every other way.

In short, why hijack one category of monster to describe another one that is already in use?

I'm not the one who redefined the term. People who live a sanguinarian lifestyle refer to themselves and are refered to as vampires. There is a difference between fiction and real-life, that is true. I'm not the one changing terms, though. I'm merely defining what is meant by a real vampire.

Here's a quote from sanguinarius, under the definition of a real vampire. Click on the link below to read the rest. The link above will take you to the FAQ section.

QUOTE
By "vampire", I do not speak of the undead, or of supernatural creatures, or of immortal super-men, but of human beings who have the need to drain blood or psychic energy (or sometimes both or either) from others. There are sanguinarian vampires, who consume blood; there are psi-vampires, who need pranic energy (psychic energy); and there are those who drain either / or, interchangeably.

What is a real vampire?
