I think I have identified the critter you posted about eons ago.

Brushtail possum (They can be black).

Or perhaps a similar species of possum.

They have allegedly become a pest in New Zeland. Could have been brought over seas as a pet. Perhaps it is a remnent of deliberate introduction. They were brought to new zeland for their fur, but with no natural predetors they became a pest.

Perhaps this was done in other places as well, the difference being that predetors in other regions may have made integration largely unsuccessful.

It may have had some kind of pigmentation issue, since the skin on the feet is mostly black with some mottled pink (pic of back feet). Also, they have 5 toes!

Why didnt you just take it to a vet and ask them to identify it or show a vet a picture?

Why post on a forum where a vast array of assumptions will be made?

I think it is a type of mogoose-no the "common" type-ive a pix I'm trying  to add -that looks very close if dyed black

I've been to the Web & back-the fur, feet, toes, teeth, and size could be MONGOOSE.
I'm no expert but i can read & compare pix !
