Every time I have taken the Belief-O-Matic, my results have changed.  I guess that's a result of my growth in belief.  But I just noticed that my most recent results gave only a 3% difference between my Top-5 results.  I don't remember ever having such a close difference in views.....
Yeah I think if my mood had been different and I would've taken more time to think about the questions / importance of the questions that my results would've been different. I'll probably take it again.

Sad to see so few Hindu/Buddhist thought!  Non-dualism is something every non-biased spiritual seeker/philosopher needs to at least read about. If one has not read the Upanishads then I highly suggest they do! (My personal favorite is the translation by Swami Prabhavananda, HIGHLY recommended!)  I study all the primary religions, but Hinduism has really taken to me, it also made Buddhism much more comprehensible, and I can even relate it to everything Jesus teaches in his sermons... It is a very encompassing holistic cosmology, well developed and VERY philosophical. Don't let what you may have heard about Hinduism, or read about in the Bhagavad Gita scare you away from the world's oldest living spiritual texts!  I think Hinduism is the most misunderstood religion by outsiders than any other.

Excerpt from the Katha Upanishads,

"The Self-Existent made the senses turn outward. Accordingly, man looks toward what is without, and sees not what is within. Rare is he who, longing for immortality, shuts his eyes to what is without and beholds the Self. [[Self - translated from Sanskrit: Atman = Soul or God Within]]

Fools follow the desires of the flesh and fall into the snare of all-encompassing death; but the wise, knowing the Self as eternal, seek not the things that pass away.

He through whom man sees, tastes, smells, hears, feels, and enjoys, is the omniscient Lord.

He, verily, is the immortal Self. Knowing him, one knows all things.

He through whom man experiences the sleeping or waking states is the all-pervading Self. Knowing him, one grieves no more. "

"The light that shines above the heavens and above this world, the light that shines in the highest world, beyond which there are no others–that is the light that shines in the hearts of men."  -The Upanishads

(My own) Results and I realized how close my religious beliefs are to the top three faiths the quiz came with in bold text. At first I thought of self-identification as an Agnostic secular bordering on Atheist. Then it turns out that I was an observant Christian within the realm of deist or nontheist.

How did the Belief-O-Matic do? Discuss your results on our message boards.

Exactly what I would expect. Lucky me, since I'm a long time Friend (aka Liberal Quaker, otherwise known as an unprogrammed meeting member). I would expect UU's to be second or third, and Orthodox (or programmed) Friends to be second or third. Baha'i makes sense, as does Jainism. Mainline Liberal Protestant makes sense too... after those, it's fuzzy... I was raised "New Age" or "Eastern Philosophy" so it's not surprising that my beliefs would rate high in those areas. It's also no surpise to me that Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic would rank dead last. If you know what you believe, none of this should be a surprise to anyone.

1.  Orthodox Quaker (100%)

I'd be willing to guess that you selected non-violece as high importance, that you ranked gender roles equally, and you marked that "inner spirituality" as important. You may have also marked baptism as unimportant?

Orthodox Quaker is actually pretty much the exact opposite of Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodoxy in almost every way when it comes down to actual practice.

The percentages aren't how "much" you are that religion, the results are how closely aligned your beliefs are with a specific faith (which is why you can have two 100% matches). Basically, you're beliefs have nearly nothing in common with the LDS.

I think it's dumb they have Scientology in this list at all. No one knows what Scientologists believe except for Scientologists (and even then, the vast majority don't know), their "doctrine" and beliefs are hidden from the public and hidden from active members until they shell out enough dough to be told what they believe.

Scientology should be removed from the results list and they should include the Anabaptists (Mennonite, Brethren, Hutterite, and Amish) instead which don't appear in the results list at all. If they did, I'd rank high with the liberal Mennonites, but they aren't included.

But, rejection of modern medicine isn't all that the Christian Scientists believe, it's only a portion. It's a highly spiritual faith which doesn't believe in sin or original sin, and have no specific rites of baptism. They have no bias for gender roles (aka men and women are 100% equal) and they have no specific ideas about divorce and marriage. They have some belief in modern day prophets. Of course, reading about Christian Science can clear some of that up. But it's not surprising most people with rather loose, perhaps new age ideas about christian faith will align with Christian Science in some way.
