When I think of sad songs I think of Hank Williams.(my fav singer.)  imo For some reason when I hear a sad song of his about something im going through I fill better not worse. Its like his music helps my hurt run its coarse. Heres a few.
Neath a cold grey tomb of stone.-

I dreamed about momma last night.-
Cold cold heart.-
Men with broken hearts.-
Lost highway.-
Your cheating heart.-Etc.
I love hillbilly music but I know people that dont but have still been touched by hanks music. Thanks

There is this song that makes me depressed and cry every time I hear it. It's called The Royal We by The Silver Sun Pickups. The lyrics really get to me.

Roy Orbison and k.d. Lang version of 'Crying' is a sad song but a beautiful song. One of my favorites. It's on Youtube.

Cancer and Disenchanted by My Chemical Romance. Those guys used to to be my FAVORITE a few years ago. I don't listen to them that much anymore but I still like to listen to them from time to time.
