A team of French and Swiss archaeologists working in the Nile Valley have uncovered ancient statues described as sculptural masterpieces in northern Sudan. The archaeologists from the University of Geneva discovered a pit full of large monuments and finely carved statues of the Nubian kings known as the black pharaohs.

The Swiss head of the archaeological expedition told the BBC that the find was of worldwide importance.

Excellent find. It’s amazing to think there could be thousands, and perhaps even millions of artifacts just waiting to be discovered.

Amazing discovery!  I hope they find more!
And I hope they have a special on it soon!

the only problem with specials is that if they do have one on the new findings, they will also feature more heavily on what you don't want to see.

that's true Al, but it's probably the only way I'll get to see them.
Unless, they take some to the big museums for awhile, that would be
          great!  smile.gif

smile.gif But wouldn't be great to see things coming out piece by piece just as they find it.....

that would be the way i would like it to be shown, but they would innevitably have it so it kept cutting back to some other thing all the while and then have breaks at every opportunity.

What is it with Egyptians? They create something of beauty that takes a long, long, long time in the making, and what do they do? They bury it and don't tell anyone where it is...
