A big increase in UFO reports this year?

Well we had a sighting in our country LOL! Formation of 5 orange lights was hovering for around 5minutes above a small village out on countryside. It vanished, didnt move away, but instantly gone. Weird i dont recall any weird lights,sightings whatsoever in my country in whole history... Alot of people saw it and local newspaper wrote about. So it couldnt have been any US top secret project or anyone else's. Since we are small country, thats what counts here, and we dont have any technology to do that. I'll dig some info and post it.

Was this sighting picked up in the news at all? Any photos or video of the sighting? Any links or additional information that you can provide?

Well i'm from Slovenia very small country near Austria and Italy. And it couldnt be a hoax since we dont have such type of people here, and im sure they werent chinese laterns...People in those village are abit behind the time...Like i wrote before im gathering all the info about the event.

This our main TV news broadcast media. Its in Slovenian language, sorry for that. The picture what shot there, and there are 3 more, which im trying to get a hold on. Our weather service said that it couldnt be UFOs and not sattelites or stars they've been moving in pattern. In my opinion that was a reflection of light of some kind... i dont think were talking aliens here.. More like a weather phenomena or manmade phenomena, like i said people here dont do hoaxs, they dont wanna even hear words like aliens,ufos,ets,.. So what do you guys think it is, i'll provide more pictures in future ( tommorow ).

Ignore those videos, they are "latest" on web, they have no relevance to our event.

With the rate at which technology is increasing, I have no doubt that UFO sightings will increase on an annual basis (however marginal said increase might be).

In the US, we've never had a UFO hoax. All genuine, my people aren't capable of hoaxing, or capable of collecting data for that matter.

Im from Croatia , more precisely i live 50km off slovenian border, and almost every night i can see strange lights on the sky !

As i said before , i taped one UFO on my cam ( analog .. ) .. I believe its not a hoax, because i cant imagine how could you make such a hoax .. its pretty amazing how does it look like .. and yes, one thing i wanted to mention , that 3 persons from my town , claims they where kidnapped by something "uknown" .. so nuke , its not a hoax, if you have camera , get out and start filming !!

Did all of you read the article that septic peg posted? Besides its reporting of an observed increase in the reporting of UFO"s, it also pretty much covered every possible caveat of why it may not be an actual increase of UFO's. Yes, it has covered most of the comments that have been posted here, in this post, as individual personal opinion. So this article already says what most everyone here is posting. The article closes with an all inclusive statement that should leave most anyone wondering what to believe about the headline of "So whats up with the big increase in UFO reports, by saying---"Whether the increase in sightings is rooted in reality, a computer glitch, or psychological and social influences remains to be seen. One thing is certain: This is not the first time that UFO reports have increased, and it won't be the last"

So, I guess it might make for an interesting read, but not much of a basis for a real discussion, since they cover it from A to Z!

I'm not sure there has been an increase this year, really. I think the increase has more to do with the media. There aren't more UFO reports being made,it's just that news is reporting it more often. I'd guess the numbers are about the same, however, with the increase in technology, and the need to have a camera attached to each handy little gadget we own, more people are getting more evidence, there for more news out lets are using it to draw ratings.

Yeah, it is, and in my honest opinion this "increase" in UFO sightings is more is more an indication of the proliferation of broadband internet connections and the increased ease of reporting such sightings rather than an actual increase in sightings.

Naturally, I could be wrong and I shall be the first to admit that I have not done any research into the statistics of this, but it just sounds like the plausible explanation to me.

I have been studying the subject for many years and here is what I think is going on with these UFos.

1. 99% of them are made in the USA. Before the first massive sightings in 1947 they were seen very rarely. After 1947 they have been seen by the hundreds, some of them flying in squadron formations. The excuse used by UFO people to explain this problem is that the aliens saw the first flashes of the atomic bombs in 1945 and came running to investigate. 60 years later they are still investigating. IT does not make sense.

2. Power sources. I believe they are using advanced nuclear power engines which give them incredible flight characterists seen by many people. When the scientists were buiding the atomic bomb during WWII they were also working on atomic powered aircraft at the same time. That is admitted by historians. An exampel of the incredible power in these engines, look up US Patent# 4,023,065 entitled METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR GENERATING AND UTILIZING A COMPOUND PLASMA CONFIGURATON.Filed )ct. 23,1973 by Paul Koloc. According to an article in THE NY TIMES, he was a retired US Navy research physicist who says it is a COMPACT THERMONUCLEAR REACTOR which he says could be used in space ships.

3. Politics of UFOS. Over the years I have seen situations where a lot of UFOs are seen all over the place which were called FLAPS. I noticed that these Flaps happened in times of economic or political distress. There were several of them in the 1960s where there upheavals in this country over the Vietnam War and racial problems. A real big one took place when Israel was attacked in Oct. 1973 by Egypt and Syria. We found out later that the US and Russia nearly had a nuclear war because of this conflict. Anyway hundreds of these UFOs were seen over many cities for days on end and people were distracted from the war by these sightings.

The recent sightings could be cause by the economic distress of the recession. We see big conflicts in the US with the rise of the Tea Party and now the demonstrations on Wall street and the rest of the US. Nothing like UFOs sighting to get the unemployed interested in other topic then their own situation.

In other words, Obama gives the order and things start flying.
