Obviously proof that religion needs to be banned.
If this was a case of somebody on psychedelics the religious nuts would be having a field day, z0mg drugs are bad mmmkay.

Sounds like someone missed all the signs for the need of an Exorcism on that guy.

You can't ban religion. It's an idea. Plus, I highly doubt that religion was the actual reason that this man tore out his own eyes. Voices told him to do it? That sounds an awful lot like mental illness to me, and severe mental illness at that. Though he might believe that angels or demons told him to do it, the voices themselves resulted from some condition he probably has.

And yes, this man has needed some help long before this act happened. He just probably was a shy/quiet man and nobody really noticed anything until he committed this act.
Religion doesn't turn people into crazy lunatics, just as drugs don't turn people into crazy lunatics. The craziness was already there, and the religion/ the drug helped push them to where they would have gone already.
