But there is a level of mathematical probability to be applied - and getting the same name and response, in the same voice, multiple times over an hour is a very slim chance.

The problem is that those responses and names are open to interpretation and suggestion. I wish his examples would be split into 2 audio files. One first of the phrase said by the device. Followed by the question asked.

I never heard of a ghost box before reading this thread.
Thanks again Jerry for explaining  what it is, and how it works.
I see from the posts how its basically white noise and like pressing a button on a radio to scan through stations, without actively tuning into a radio station.

(Apologies if i havent described the process correctly. Its just how i can explain my thoughts/opinion)

Having read about the basic principle, could a person press autotune on a tv and record the sound the tv makes whilst searching for channels??
Would this possibly work in a similar fashion??

Please note, this is just a question im asking.
I have no intention of trying it.
Im simply wondering if the basic principle is the same.

I dont think so, because there is an image involved as well, and the scan works differently as well. Ghost Boxes are interesting because they give out sentences.

My God....scanning through random AM stations, gee.....I wonder what will happen?.....I am so ready for my next life.......

According to psychologists, there is a phenomenon called Pareidolia.  It is defined as a type of misperception involving an obscure stimulus  (an image or sound), which is perceived as something clear and distinct.  This is a common phenomenon in EVP analysis. If this phenomenon is  applied to the Ghost Box, it becomes obvious that the responses provided  through it are given a greater sense of attention. However, this does  not address the argument made that the Ghost Box provides specific  responses to questions asked. An explanation for this involves Subjective Validation/Personal Validation Effect,  whereby a person will accept a statement or other wording to be  correct, or valid. In other words, when a person asks a question during  the use of a Ghost Box, they will be paying attention to words  reflecting an anticipated response. Any other information that is  scanned throughout the AM channels will be ignored. What the Ghost Box  amounts to is a condition of cognitive bias!

Im sorry, but ghostiechaser began this thread to discuss ghostboxes and to share some information with us.
I dont see why he should need to defend his using said ghostbox and be subjected to a comment like this.

It intimates he doesnt know how to use his ghostbox and he is pessemistic.

Ghostiechaser is simply sharing information with other forum members.
He should not be made to feel he needs to defend said information, or himself.

Yes - Pareidolia is a HUGE part of it - and most of the uses can be explained away - hell I still barely give the device credit - but again the ONE time it was used with John Zaffis, members of our group were called by name, (matches up with some personal history) and the conversation was direct.

No 99% of the time for people it's simple Pareidolia, and that's the truth of it - but with modifications and a good testing environment maybe we can get something.

I've taken to testing a high powered cell/gps jammer to see how it will affect our equipment on it's own. Maybe variants can be of use to eliminate interference externally... Testing is key.

So while most users fly to the assumptions that these things are golden and every time the obvious 'ghost' says it will rain this week, some are truly testing the theory - until those tests are complete and presented I don't think it's fair to dismiss the device entirely.
"Ghosts" are People too - just because they don't have a body anymore, let's call it Corporeally Challenged, it doesn't mean they don't deserve some respect or that they have to be classified as an entity of either divine evil or divine good. If they were a douche in life, they'll be a douche after life too.

I agree wholeheartedly - like I said - some users....
