I meant the ancient aliens episode. We get that zombie show here, and I don't watch it. Just not my interrest.

Can be found on YouTube.

There is the pilot and following it four seasons. http://en.wikipedia..../Ancient_aliens for info that I just searched.

Yesterday's viewing was very interesting and well worth making the time. Not into zombies either. But I do like vampire stuff. Interesting theories and/or suggestions. Like everything, I watch it and take whatever. Can not form educated opinions without hearing others, IMO.

Write up re next week's season four episode: Aliens, gods and heros. If mythical gods really did exist, were they, as ancient astronauts theorists believe, extraterrestrial beings? And could this help to explain the enduring popularity of gods, titans and other so called super-heros?

Dear you guys. Words cannot express how much I hate you guys. As we fight our way northward into the great unknown, only that one thing remains certain: that I hate you guys with every tired muscle in my confederate body. OOps...I was trying to reply to Dbunker's question here:
"I forget... whats that weirdows name?" And to clear up why this stiff reallty isn't a "theory" in a scientific sense anyway.

First, in science a theory actually has lots of evidence supporting its claims. Ancient Alien "theory" is really more like Ancient Alien "wild speculation".

And our friend from the show is none other than Giorgio Tsoukalos! (I was spelling his name incorrectly...sorry Giorgio)

Well, going by your reasoning, the conventional/mainstream theories on ancient cultures and structures should be thrown out the window as well, right?

But we know that we had humans living in those places. We have recorded documentations of other cultures of same times, advancements or region to compare with in most cases. It holds more weight than going "Oh, some extra terrestial being came from Oriens belt to help us stack rocks on each other to create a pyramid which functions both as a intergallatic gas station so space ships can refuel from orbit, aswell as being a gigantic transmutation device to create gold."

You take your pick which holds more weight.

There is none. The guys theories were torn apart by a HORIZON documentary on BBC t.v. about 30 years ago. End of.....

Why would anyone do that? One doesn't throw any hypothesis "out the window" just because it's not definitively supported. But, like Mallaliak said, one does have to look at the things we do know and how much extrapolation/speculation one has to put into the hypothesis to make it work.

The so-called "Ancient Alien" hypothesis is very long on extrapolation/speculation and very short on supporting factual data. However, the TV show tends to gloss over all the real problems with the hypothesis and attempts to present something that's actually very speculative as being a reality. This is why some of us are poking fun at it (at least why I do).

For me I've found the series extremely interesting. I don't believe eveything of course, that would be stupid. But my own personal beliefs do play a heavy part in what I do agree with in the documenaries. I share the beliefs of Native Americans; Australia's Aboriginals; believe ancient texts of the Hindi and Chinese; buddhists. And having personally experienced encounters with interdimensional beings without the benefit of alcohol or drugs I can only take seriously what a lot of the documentaries present, or at least listen and compare what I've already learnt.

Unfortunately as I did not have cable again till recetly I've missed nearly the entire series three. And presently do not have unlimited down load so can not watch it all on the internet.

I do not mock what has been presented as, IMO, that would be mocking the beliefs of many cultures represented in the documentaries. And I also note the use of words such as 'suggest'. And that is what it is all about like with most things...suggestion. The documentaries put foreward things to think about, and that is always a good thing. When we stop questioning and searching for answers and listening with an open mind the opinions of others then we are in trouble. We have brains that are designed to make educated decisions by sharing with others concepts, beliefs and ideas. After my dealings with an oppressive mind numbing cult I learnt never to stop questioning. So I am now like a filter. Take in everything and filter out what i believe to be rubbish.

Some people today still believe the earth is flat. This example shows that no matter what 'evidence' is presented regarding something no matter what it is, others will never accept it as evidence or truth. For me I await with many traditional natives the coming day of the star ancestors revealing themselves and bringing in the golden age. But all to our own.

I notice Einstien looked one of the goofiest scientists to have lived. How often is he mocked. My dentist has a really bad bed side manner but he is brilliant. I'm there to have my teeth seen to not engage in conversation. I have a deep knowledge of treatments for many sicknesses but because I am fat and degenerating due to my pituitary tumor people look only at my outside appearence and think I talk rubbish. Giorgio's hair? He obviously has a scence of humor and rightly doesn't care what others think of his appearence or of his opinions. Shame there are not a lot more like him. The world would be a more accepting and colourful place IMO. My life is a dark one and needs all the colour others can bring into it. IMO I think Giorgio deliberately does his hair like this just to get a laugh and say 'loosen up folks'.

Well, The History Channel is presenting this Ancient Alien stuff as if it was proven reality...and that's not exactly 'scientific'. Now, everyone is free to believe that of their own choosing, to have their own personal opinions. However, being free to have one's own personal opinions/beliefs does not mean being free to persent such as being factual. There's a big difference therein.

Also, I might poke fun at Mr. Tsoukalkos' hair style and his rush to believe just about everything is a product of aliens, but I would never poke fun at any person who was disabled or ill. Another big difference.

Not at all. Just to add to the already excellent posts addressing this issue, the Ancient Aliens show follows a path of fallacies to reach a preconceived conclusion that is based not on evidence, but lack of same using by leaps of faith while in the same breath conveniently overlooking evidence contrary to their claims. E.g., stones were cut with a precision that we even today have a hard time meeting, lifting stones weighing many tonnes which is not possible today using the same techniques and so on. Which are naturally blatantly false statements. For instance, the pyramids were not precision cut, but had large gaps filled out with mortar. And the lifting of heavy stones using envisioned ancient technologies has already been demonstrated.

Science, on the other hand, readily admits that we don't know exactly, but there is a lot of evidence pointing in certain directions telling us how they most likely did it. The difference is vast and that is why your analogy doesn't really fit. Ancient Aliens is a show made for entertainment and not for science, in fact, it's whole foundation is based on pseudoscience - cherry picking and making statements that are blatantly wrong. And typically you don't need to be very long into a show before they go down that path.

Cheers,
Badeskov
