Stumbled onto a book series at the library evening before last. Nightwatch. Now I'm a few pages from being done with the first book, I hit the library again and picked up the other three books in the series.

It's pretty interesting. Folks with magic powers that fall onto the sides of dark and light.. Dark and light have an uneasy truce with each other and keep each other in check.

Just thought I would share in case anyone out there is looking for something new to read.

Sounds like a good book.  Wish I had more time for reading.

Definitely sounds most interesting. I looked it up on Goodreads. :P

Anyone else think The Twilight and its 'levels' was probably supposed to be the authors interpretation of astral projection?  And a clever one at that!

Absolutely awesome series of books.

Who's the author? I just checked amazon and there are several books with that title.
It sounds interesting. I'm putting it on my to-read list

Sergei Lukyanenko is the author.

Cat, I think your notion of astral travel is indeed pretty darn clever if that's what the author intended. Dunno if that's the case or not though. I found the series pretty darn good, some of the ways the political intentions play out is kind of fascinating.

The first two have been filmed as well!

Night watch was made in 2004: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403358/

Day Watch in 2006: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409904/

They are both great! Really worth watching. Russian films, they were filmed in Russian in Moscow and are completely unique! I loved them both. Available everywhere on DVD, there are versions of both with options for Russian with subtitles or dubbed English.

They are great, great, great! Buy them, they are cheap and a total movie heaven bargain.

The end of Day Watch had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat.

I heard that one of the big American studios/companies bought the rights to 'Dusk Watch' but I don't know whats happening with that at the moment.
The first two are essentially a full story arc in themselves though.

An old topic I know but thought I'd throw out a little update that people might find interesting.

Sergei Lukyanenko has written a FIFTH book in the series, titled "The New Watch" which will be out early 2013, see it here: http://ddc-is.me/R47jQv

If it's anything like the rest of the series I can't wait!! :w00t:
