Strange metal box, with no opening or seam, stuck in the surf up is one of a possible group of a dozen or more that have been sited up and down along Oregon, Washington State and Northern California beaches.Meanwhile, the British government also photographed similar huge metal boxes on beaches in Sri Lanka in the late 1990ís and in early 2004 and 2005. Surely someone would have investigated these boxes by now.

After all they could be drugs or a bomb (possibly) so a government agency would have taken them away.

(If there is any truth in this report)

I agree with the above post. If anything like that turned up on the beach the first thought would be some kind of mine and the place would be swarming with bomb disposal experts. Where have all these boxes gone?
As for the photo, it is pretty inconclusive. The photographer made the error of taking the photo with the sun facing him/her so not a great deal of detail. (although according to the report there isnt much detail anyway)

This is a hoax. Multiple reasons for this.

1. The author is a known hoaxer
2. No officials near Stonefield beach have heard of this.
3. No local papers have heard of this.
4. If this story was true, the beach would have been full of military personnel within minutes of the first witness report. No locals or officials have witnessed this

My first thought is that perhaps the boxes are some type of debris (perhaps military?) from the Japan Tsunami?  :unsure2:

My first thought was, before looking into it, maybe nuclear waste containers from Japan?

Possibly a marine hot water tank. Seems too simple though. Wouldnt explain not being able to pull it or no markings either.

When I googled "strange metal boxes washed ashore" all I found where links to paranormal sights. No major media reports were found. That makes me think it is a hoax.

The only thing that makes me think this isn't a total hoax is Bill Hanshumaker Ph.d....he's a real person and a respected marine biologist

I wonder if he actually did the interview and knows if his name is being used in conjunction with this story

if anyone is that interested his public email can be found on this page http://hmsc.oregonst.../visit/about-us

We don't get any news here in Australia in the form of "Something strange washed up but the gov doesn't know what it is!" Once they know what something is, then we find out. If they never find out, most of us never hear about it.

I don't see any markings on the exposed parts visible there. I do see holes for the circulation pipes. If it drifted in and then got filled with water or sand, it'd weigh as much as a solid block of concrete. That just leaves the alleged humming.

Youd just need a bit of sea breeze blowing across the circulation pipe holes to make some sort of sound.

I can hear the ocean waves as I type, on the Oregon coast......This is the first I have heard of this, no news about it around here anywhere.
