On first glance this delicious full English breakfast appears to have come straight from the frying pan - but it’s actually a birthday cake.

The 38-year-old has been inundated with orders since setting up his business, called Paul's Creative Cakes, at his home in Colchester, Essex.

And he spends hours painstakingly carving each in to all sorts of weird and wacky designs.

A cake decorator that I work with can make cakes that look just like these.  She is absolutely amazing and has done cakes that I never would have thought possible!  I've seen her make cakes or cupcakes that look like spaghetti, popcorn, corn on the cob, very delicate and life-like flowers and so much more!

-Did you just say "Don't touch me"?  We're in public!

So do I.  Really with fondant you can create anything.  This isn't really "craftmanship" anymore than rolling up playdough is.  I can't imagine eating them. The sugar must be so overwhelming.

*lol*  Yup I agree.  IMO - fondant is cheating.  I make cakes like this (not as well).  My boss had me make one for his son and his son asked me if I could not use the "peel" just the frosting.

These have given me some good ideas.  Kudos to the bakers!

The fairytale castle I think is brilliant, and the ice cream Sunday looks good too.

Fondant usually is disgusting.  Most of the time it doesn't even get eaten, (people don't like having to chew their frosting - lol ) but it's still popular. And people pay extra $$ for it just to throw it out.

Worse than fondant is when they screen shot a child or baby's face onto a birthday cake.  Then proceed to cut it up with knives and serve eyes and lips and earlobes and hair to the party guests.

I had an order for a baby shower cake a month ago.  The woman sent me her ultrasound photos to print and put on the cake.  Really, who wants to eat the baby??

I was reminded of the cakes here *shudder*
