Some of these are just common sense. Like selling "cures" for cancer, without any verification they could be selling sugar pills, or worse cyanide.

I don't know whether that's intended as satirical or not. He's going to be saying next that this is just the prelude to rounding everyone up and putting them in ferma camps.

Life is a hideous business, and from the background behind what we know of it peer daemoniacal hints of truth which make it sometimes a thousandfold more hideous.

Good Grief! Number 13, "There is a federal law that makes it illegal to be “annoying” on the Internet" is stupid beyond belief. Everyone annoys someone at some point. Basically, we're all guilty.

Honestly...not really worried.

"Control Freak" isn't defined by how many rules there are.  It's defined by how seriously the rules are upheld.  There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of law enforcement taking most of these rules seriously.

I kind of wonder about some of these and just how true or twisted they are. Like #1, I know that one isn't true at all. Fox news picked up the story of the complaint, but according to the town itself they have no intention of passing any such ban. I'm willing to bet that #10 and #11 are old laws that haven't been removed from the books.

Where they really get you is the "ignorance of the law is no excuse". How are we expected to know when they make it up as they go along?

So, haha, most of these laws fall into one of two categories. THe old laws that were never taken off the books category... or the "are you paying attention?!" category.

It's not uncommon for law writers to slip in a CRAZY non-sensical law into the state legislature when they are voting on a perfectly rational law. Usually the non-sensical (like getting moose drunk) is passed with the more "real" law, and it gets passed because no one voting bothred to read the entire initiative. The "I gotcha non-sensical law" is a "dead" law when it's existance is discovered and you can't be prosecuted or charged with it.

For example, theres a city ordinance in my town which states that you may not board a city bus with a Fish bowl less than half full of water because the sloshing of water may disturb other passengers. This is HIGH comedy, it's never been a real law, but it does sit on the books as a dead law. Along with my other favorite regarding city buses... a female may not board a city and sit on a gentlemans lap without first placing a phone book on his lap. If you're in Seattle, I can promise you no one will stop you from bringing your fish bowl with water on the bus.

This reminds me of the law they have in Beaverton, near me, where even if you bring a Monopoly pistol outside your house, you can be arrested and jailed. Some kids were arrested last year for playing with bits of wood and holding them like guns.
Here at Intel we make processors on 12 inch wafers. And, the individual processors on the wafers are called die. And, I am employed to check these die. That is why I am the DieChecker.

There are literally thousands of these things floating around the country. Theyr'e done for various reasons, virtually all of them are dead, and you won't be charged. This is one of my favorites in Washington:

"It is mandatory for a motorist with criminal intentions to stop at the city limits and telephone the chief of police as he is entering the town."  LOL! This was a real law at one point, however, it wasn't terribly effective. hahaha. It's still on the books, but no DA would DREAM of trying to use it to charge or prosecute anyone with it. It's classfied as a dead law I believe.
