A lonely clump of dark matter 2.4 billion light-years from Earth is confounding scientists by its mere presence, researchers say. Contrary to popular astronomy theories, the invisible stuff appears to have been left behind in space after a cluster of galaxies collided.

"This result is a puzzle," astronomer James Jee of the University of California, Davis, said in a statement. "Dark matter is not behaving as predicted, and it's not obviously clear what is going on. Theories of galaxy formation and dark matter must explain what we are seeing."

God I love when that kind of thing happens.

- Astrophysician: "But... but... it's not supposed to behave like this... Mister Heisenberg, what could you tell us about this?"

- Heisenberg: "Hummm..." *Pauses for 10 minutes* "Well... I would say... that it's uncertain. 'Night gentlemen... YEEEEEHHAAAAA!" *Leaves*

Dark matter, it is fair to say, must be some sort of HIGHLY compressed matter left over after the galaxies collided. My guess is this could be used as a valuable fuel source. Perhaps maybe something ominous is creeping into our wits. :o

If dark matter is supposed to provide the extra gravity to hold galaxies together, how could galaxies drift away and leave their dark matter behind?

Dark energy. As far as I understand it, it even makes the universal "expansion" going faster and faster over time.

^^^ This.

The man has a gift for explaining space and its various phenomena. Not to mention a child-like enthusiam with the subject matter I could never reproduce.

Me: The Earth goes around the Sun. Yep.

Brian Cox: The Earth goes around the Sun. The concept is AMAZING and beautiful to imagine!

Me: The earth is going around the friggin' sun??? Unbeleivable!.. can you immagine that? Oh God! Oh God! Oh God! *Flaps his hands*

You: Yep. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a roast in the oven. Good bye.

Me: *Snaps his wrists* Oh crap!

I have found Mr Michio Kaku to be quite like that sometimes talking about quantum theory. That's cool. Makes me love sciences even more.

"The Quantum Universe" is a fantastic book.  It's accessible even to total cretins like myself.

Don't be so harsh or yourself bro. If you understood the slightest thing from this book you are deffinatly intelligent in my book.

I love how Kaku simplifies things. He helps me a lot going through the theorical stuff. The more I go into the quantum theory, the more it blows my mind.

Really. All the books of his is in simple scientific language. 'Parallel worlds' and 'Hyper Space' are my favorites.
