The iconic Statue of Liberty is adored by millions around the world.

But while most appreciate what it stands for, or are in awe of its design, few would profess their undying love for it.

That is unless you are smitten Amanda Whittaker who says she has fallen head over heels for the famous New York monument.

The 27-year-old shop assistant from Leeds suffers from an unusual condition called objectum sexuality, whereby she falls in love with inanimate objects instead of people.

I'd tell them to get a room...but that's not exactly realistic.

yeah right
i think this is pumped up somewhat. so she's obsessed with the statue of liberty - so what. people collect all sorts of weird stuff that they don't believe they can live without. why is this so different? because she claims to be romantically attracted to it?
doing some major eye rolling here...

As one commenter said on the Daily Mail's website said... everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame.

I guess this is the true definition of Tri-sexual?

My User Name is a loving memory of how much I want to know about the worlds secrets, that I forgot to look up the definition of "skeptical" before I made my account.

Some people will claim anything to get attention, and eventually a check from the government.

It's not so hard to believe, or imagine. How many people had a crush on a cartoon character as a kid? Daphne from Scooby Doo was pretty hot after all.  ;)

I always preferred Melody from the Pussycats.

There's a show on tv right now that features obsessions; one guy was literally in love with his car.

One's reality is another's nightmare.
