www.bbc.co.uk said:

The discovery of a well-preserved juvenile woolly mammoth suggests that ancient humans "stole" mammoths from hunting lions, scientists say.

Bernard Buigues of the Mammuthus organisation acquired the frozen mammoth from tusk hunters in Siberia.

Scientists completed an initial assessment of the animal, known as Yuka, in March this year.

Wounds indicate that both lions and humans may have been involved in the ancient animal's death.

And another article of interest on this subject:

Young Mammoth Likely Butchered by Humans
The carcass of the juvenile "Yuka" may have been cut up, eaten and then buried by ancient people.

A juvenile mammoth, nicknamed "Yuka," was found entombed in Siberian  ice near the shores of the Arctic Ocean and shows signs of being cut  open by ancient people.  The remarkably well preserved frozen carcass was discovered in Siberia as part of a BBC/Discovery Channel-funded expedition and is  believed to be at least 10,000 years old, if not older. If further study  confirms the preliminary findings, it would be the first mammoth  carcass revealing signs of human interaction in the region.

Very well preserved carcass shows it may have been stolen from lions,by humans, after the initial kill.

Miss me?
