Why do you feel sorry for the dragon?
Illegal immigration isn't a new concept in the US. Just ask the Native Americans.

It may have been a point of self preservation for old St. George. Rather a dragon die than a future Saint-

You do realise the dragon is a metaphor?

Not to mention imaginary.  Dragons are pretend.  I mean I always feel bad for Wile E. Coyote when he falls off the cliff, but only until I remember that he's pretend.

Ah, but we all know that Wile E Coyote will just see a few stars then be right back on the trail of that pesky meeep meep roadrunner thngy whereas the dragon shuffled off it's mortal coil and joined the b******* choir invisibule.
Not that dragons ever existed so why are we discussing this lol........oh well, it's very hot outside. Too hot to even take a swim in the pool! I suppose discussing dragons is the next best thing :)

edit....another typo.  we should all be fluent in typonese by now though :)

The think the original is depressing, you should see the EC Comics version From "Weird Fantasy."
"Apparently the Lemurians drank Schlitz." - Intrepid "Real People" reporter on finding a mysterious artifact in the depths of Mount Shasta.
