I live in Christchurch and the only volcano here has been dead for almost 1.5 million years thank you. Earthquakes are our main problem here
Yes we have had our fair share of earthquakes in the past year but volcanos? news to me..
If by volcano you mean liqufaction mounds then yes we have had a fair chunk of those but that is directly asociated with earthquake activity and not vulcanisum persay.
Hi Stoneheart!
Yes, I mean earthquakes caused by the volcanic activity on the rim

Thank you for the clarification but I did not actually say "A Volcano" but "volcanic activity" which keeps those on the rim of fire on their toes lately. I am very sorry to hear about the loss and damage and wish you determined battlers well.
I have a place in Queenstown, but I live in Oz, I hope to become an NZ citizen in a few years, I want to move there when I retire. I love the place immensely, the people, the country, the food, it's all just awesome. I envy you in many ways.

but inside for the most part I would guess as it gets very cold over winter.
It was just a tongue in cheek joke, he said North people are on Drugs, you said you are in the South, I was joking around and saying
do not fool us, you are from the South, that does not stop people in the North
You will get used to me, no offence, just a bit of lighthearted banter from nearby Oz

As for snow fall here in Christchurch city it is never a sure thing due to our close aproximation to the sea and that Banks Perninsular (the dead volcano) tends to funnel that sort of weather out to sea.
Nearly though we were going to miss out in Queenstown last year, then BOOM, 3 foot of snow knocked my gutters down! You better book ski time in Queenstown if that is the case

I have not spent much time at Christchurch, just in and out of the airport, would love to see and experiance it. Milford was dead set mind blowing. I went on a rainy day, and that it seems is the best time to visit Milford Sound.
And I must excuse my manners, may I offer a warm welcome to UM. I hope you enjoy it here.
Cheers.
