"Joe The Georgian" - Al Stewart

Now I've got my payment
For the service that I gave
They've given me my ticket
To this place beyond the grave
I suppose it's kind of funny
I suppose it's kind of sad
Thinking back on all the times we had

But it's kind of hot and smoky
In this ante-room to Hell
And I won't make up a story
'Cause you know the truth so well
It's much too late to worry
That we never had a chance
And when Joe the Georgian gets here
We will dance, dance dance
When Joe the Georgian gets here
We will dance

We all set off together
On this sorry ship of state
When the captain took the fever
We were hijacked by the mate
And he steered us through the shadows
Upon an angry tide
And cast us one by one over the side

But it's kind of hot and smoky
In this ante-room to Hell
And I won't make up a story
'Cause you know the truth so well
It's much too late to worry
That we never had a chance
And when Joe the Georgian gets here
We will dance, dance dance
When Joe the Georgian gets here
We will dance

There's Kamenev, Zinoviev,
Bukharin and the rest
We're sharpening our pitchforks
And we're heating up the ends
We've got a few surprises
For the mate when he appears
I hope he likes the next few million years

And it's kind of hot and smoky
In this anteroom to Hell
And I won't make up a story
'Cause you know the truth so well
It's much too late to worry
That we never had a chance
And when Joe the Georgian gets here
We will dance, dance dance
When Joe the Georgian gets here
We will dance

"The Age Of Rhythm" - Al Stewart

Today I feel like Dorothy Parker
Today I've got the critical eye
I paint my world just a little bit darker
Don't even have to try

Everyone seems a little bit desperate
Oh so witty, but over the edge
I don't know why they try to impress you
With one foot on the window ledge

That's just the way they play it
That's just the way they are
Think up a line and say it
I'll see you all later down at the bar

Don't try to understand it
It won't get you very far
Even the Great Pretender
is really as naked as Hedy Lamarr

Today I feel like Dorothy Parker
Today I'm up here walking the floor
The light inside my head getting darker
Going to leave this town for sure

One block down and another block over
There's a place that will make you a drink
The night is hot, I believe that I'll go there
A password will get you in

Play a song by Hoagy Carmichael
Play that horn like Beiderbecke too
A glass or two of something you like'll
Separate you from these blues

Life is a constant party
Swung to a shot of jazz
Even the broken-hearted
Can steal a feel of the razamatazz

This is the age of rhythm
These are the dancing years
Jump through the mirror with them
New York has no time for your tears

Today I feel like Dorothy Parker
Today I've got the critical eye
I paint my world just a little bit darker
Don't even have to try

That berating kinda bummed me out,
So I left the park side

I went to my Volvo and noticed,
I had a couple slashed tires

oh no...

But adding injury and insult,
to vandalism

Someone took a key to my door,
and boldly spelled out

You're a sell out!

It says on the side of my car,
That I'm a sell out

I play a Korean guitar,
..but I'm a sell out

I'm a sell out

I'm a sell out

warm bodies, I sense
are not machines that can only make money
past, perfect, tense
words for a feeling and all I've discovered
I'll be along son with medicine supposed to,
designed to make you high
I'll be along son
with words for a feeling and all I've discovered
old, bad eyes
old, bad eyes
old, bad eyes

on loneliness comes
go see the foreman, go see the profiteer
on loneliness drives
we're takin' our time movin' **** for this holy slime

old, bad eyes
old, bad eyes
old, bad eyes, almighty fear

the shepherd won't leave me alone
he's in my face and I
the shepherd of my days
and I want you here by my heart and my head,
I can't start till I'm dead

When we die, do we haunt the sky?
Do we lurk in the murk of the seas?
What then? Are we born again?
Just to sit asking questions like these?

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

Restless soul, enjoy your youth
Like Muhammad hits the truth
Oh! Can't escape from the common rule
If you hate something, don't-cha do it too? (too)

Small, my table, ah-sits just two
It got so crowded I can't make room
Oh! Where did they come from?!
Stormed my room!

And you dare say it belongs to you... to you?!

This is not for you!
This is not for you!
This is not for you!
Oh, never was for you! You!!!

"My friends call me..."
"'Ed,' They call me..."
"My friends call for..."

All that's sacred comes from youth
Dedications, naive and true
With no power, nothing to do
I still remember, why don't you... don't you?!

This is not for you!
This is not for you!
Never was for you!
Oh! Never was you!

F-ck you!!!!

This is not for you!
This is not for you!
Oh! This is not for you!
Oh! Never was for you!

You!!!!!!

The breath of the morning, I keep forgetting
The smell of the warm summer air
I live in a town where you can't smell a thing
You watch your feet for cracks in the pavement

And up above, aliens hover
Making home movies for the folks back home
Of all these weird creatures who lock up their spirits
Drill holes in themselves and live for their secrets

They're all...

Uptight, uptight...
Uptight, uptight...
Uptight, uptight...

Uptight....

I wish that they'd swoop down in a country lane
Late at night when I'm driving
Take me onboard their beautiful ship
Show me the world as I'd love to see it

I'd tell all my friends, but they'd never believe me
They'd think that I'd finally lost it completely
I'd show them the stars and the meaning of life
They'd shut me away, but I'd be alright

Alright...
Alright...
Alright...

I'm just...

Uptight, uptight...
Uptight, uptight...
Uptight, uptight...
Uptight, uptight...

Uptight...

Can you feel the pulse?
Can you feel the heat rising from below?
Can you feel the energy? It's gaining strength, oh so slowly

But I'll wait...I'll wait...till the seasons change.
Why wait?...Why wait?... till the fall comes.

(Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!)
Ohhh. And I'll say..
I'll give you nothing but a mirthless laugh.
Ohhh.

Can you see the signs?
Can you sense the changing of the winds?
Can you sense the stillness in the air?
Calm will remain...oh so shortly.

But I'll wait... I'll wait... till the seasons change.
Why wait?...Why wait?... till the fall comes.

(Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!)
Ohhh. And I'll say..
I'll give you nothing but a mirthless laugh.
Ohhh. And I'll say..

Gonna take you by... Gonna take you by...
Gonna take you by surprise as it rises.
Gonna take you by... Gonna take you by...
Gonna take you by surprise as it rises.

Deadened branches stirred by whispers in the wind.
Fall children fill the streets at dusk, at last, it all will begin.

This day so hallowed,
This day so hallowed,
From here to forever its will I will follow.
(This day so hallowed, this day so hallowed)

Tonight will come to life.

GO!

Fall children!

This day so hallowed,
This day so hallowed,
From here to forever its will I will follow.
(This day so hallowed, this day so hallowed)
Tonight will come to life

To life!

Here in the stillness, the quiet place
Where I'm lying with a down turned face
You come and distract me
From what's coming at me
Give me something to look forward to
Truth be told, sometimes it's only you
Nothing is at stake here
When we are awake here

It's you who brings the morning
And you who takes the sun when I sleep
You're the only who stuck around
For me when I was losing
Faith in what I thought I would be
You're the only one in the dark I see
The dark I see

I can't choose only one verse out of an ArnoCorps song.

True Lies:

Soon you'll know I lead a double life
Telling you lies, causing unjust strife
Just don't forget you're still my wife
Spend time with Chet till I threaten his life!

Now you're exposed, slight change of plans!
You've been caught with another man!
Both on this mission till this jet lands!
Doing whatever the task demands!

I know you're telling! Whoa oh oh!
You know I'm telling! Whoa oh oh!
We know he's selling! Whoa oh oh!
True! Lies!

Crave excitement, can't tell the truth
Want to meet for lunch, you've got an excuse
I know what you're doing with the poseur sleuth
He's just with you cuz he thinks you're loose!

Now he's exposed, slight change of plans!
He'll never get the chance to squeeze your cans!
Both on this mission, till this jet lands!
Doing whatever the task demands!

(chorus)

Working as a team, the way it should be
Discovered the secret, both you and me
All we need is trust, now we can see
We're still together, but twice as free!

Now I'm exposed, slight change of plans!
In the line of duty, crush dogs with my hands!
Both on this mission, till this jet lands!
Doing whatever the task demands

the Queen of diamonds let you down
she was just an empty fable
the Queen of Hearts you say you never met
Your twisted fate has found you out
finally turned the tables
stole your dreams and paid you with regrets

Desperado (is there gonna be anything left is there gonna be)
You sealed your fate up a long time ago
(Ain't it hard when you're all alone in the center ring?)
Now there's no time left to borrow
(Is there gonna be anything left?)
Only stardust
(Maybe tomorrow)
Maybe tomorrow
Maybe tomorrow
Desperado
