Ooh-ee-ooh-ee-ooh
My blue jean baby, she's the queen of them all
She's the only one who makes me wanna rock and roll
Don't have to say good night
Dancing on a Saturday ni-ight

Here's one from SImon & Garfunkle:
(Last verse- though the whole song is just as good)
"
I am a rock
I am an island

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my room
Safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me

I am a rock
I am an island

And a rock feels no pain
And an island never cries"

One day me Ma's relations, they came to visit me,
Just as me Father's kinfolk were just sittin' down to tea.
We tried to smooth things over, but they soon began to fight,
An' bein' strictly neutral, I bashed everyone in sight!

It was the greatest mix-up, that you have ever seen,
Me Father he was Orange, an' me Mother she was Green!

Stars fade away,
They just crash into space,
Disappear from the night,
Like you and I.

It's been a while,
Since I tapped into my appetite
But the hunger's coming back tonight.
The more that you fight,
The more you are mine.
I'll keep you forever.

Pale in the flare light
The scared light cracks and disappears
And leads the scorched ones here
And everywhere no one cares
The fire is spreading
No one wants to speak about it
Down in the hole
Jesus tries to crack a smile
Beneath another shovel load

I've held on too long just to let it go now
Will my inner strength get me through it somehow
Defying the curse that has taken hold
Never surrender
I'll never be overcome

In the arms of an Angel, fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here..
Sarah McLachlan, Angel

..sung by someone with the voice of an angel - if you don't know Sarah, do yourself a huge favour:

(deliberately 'unlinked' to stay in keeping with the thread - just copy and paste it..)

Added PS - Royal, you have great taste - 'Broken English' is one of my top five albums of all time.

Hmm.. contrasts a bit with my love for Sarah McLachlan.. :D

The road is long with many a winding turn
That lead us to who knows where,
who knows where
But I'm strong,
strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

So on we go
His welfare is my concern
No burden is he to bear, we'll get there

For I know
he would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

"I warn you, whoever you are, oh you who wish to probe the arcanes of nature, if you do not find within yourself that which you seek, neither shall you find it outside.
If you ignore the excellencies of your own house, how do you intend to find other excellencies?
In you is hidden the treasure of treasures, Oh man, know thyself and you shall know the Universe and the Gods."

I've thought and thought about "favorite lyrics"   and really,  my very favorite lyrics are probably by Bob dylan .. or various Beatles songs.. but just for fun i'll go with these King Crimson lyrics .. because they are so interesting.

The Court Of The Crimson King

including The Return Of The Fire Witch
and The Dance Of The Puppets
(McDonald-Sinfield)
***********************************
The rusted chains of prison moons
Are shattered by the sun.
I walk a road, horizons change
The tournament's begun.
The purple piper plays his tune,
The choir softly sing;
Three lullabies in an ancient tongue,
For the court of the crimson king.

The keeper of the city keys
Put shutters on the dreams.
I wait outside the pilgrim's door
With insufficient schemes.
The black queen chants
the funeral march,
The cracked brass bells will ring;
To summon back the fire witch
To the court of the crimson king.

The gardener plants an evergreen
Whilst trampling on a flower.
I chase the wind of a prism ship
To taste the sweet and sour.
The pattern juggler lifts his hand;
The orchestra begin.
As slowly turns the grinding wheel
In the court of the crimson king.

On soft grey mornings widows cry,
The wise men share a joke;
I run to grasp divining signs
To satisfy the hoax.
The yellow jester does not play
But gently pulls the strings
And smiles as the puppets dance
In the court of the crimson king.

One of my favorites from a very under rated band: Horslips
The song is "Stowaway" From their "Aliens" album

"I'm just a stowaway
Adrift on the sea.
I didn't build the ship,
I didn't cry the sea.

I'm just a stowaway,
Don't go botherin' me.

I'm just a castaway,
On an island of stones.
I didn't want to go,
Don't want to be alone.

I'm just a castaway,
Don't leave me here alone.

No one knows the tears I cried,
the day I knew I was leaving.
Where was there to go?
I don't know.

(instrumental)

I'm just a memory,
A dream and a sigh.
But sighs can drift away,
and dreams can tell a lie.

I'm just a memory,
and memories never die."

When I finally do 'go'... This song is one I want played...
