The old euphemism of the "fallen woman" was probably not far from the truth.

I think it is wrong and fruitless to arrest prostitutes of any caliber. And yes. I don't see it ending any time soon.

You look at her as a  businesswoman with a product to sell like Tupperware. I just don't see it that way. Even if she thinks she does.
It would be degrading for the women of any society if it were to embrace and train prostitutes as an honorable profession. It sets women back not forward.

Imo,  we are looking at sad hurting women (the prostitutes).

So, of course she charges $10,000 or it woudn't be worth it! It's her darn body and she knows it too, somewhere deep inside!

The price makes her lifestyle somehow respectable and valuable and comfortable for her, when it is really not to her deep inside.

But psyche 101, I see where you are coming from, and  I have no answers either and this is just my opinion which is not shared by all women, I agree.

Is it just the multiple partners thing, or is it that the people are strangers, or just the fact that money is exchanged for a service that is the most bothering?

I bet some are indeed sad and hurting, I do not doubt you for a second, but I also think many see this as an easy path through life. Big money no training no waiting. All one has to do is some partying, again it depends on the clientele the prostitute is willing to accept, the conditions of he transaction, many things, but if it is done right, I think it could be very empowering as well.

Its a big question, no doubt about it, but as it is no going to go away, it seems a good idea to try and make it as good as it can be.

How do you feel about the Inuit custom of wife sharing? - LINK

The best known example of ritual spouse exchange was the "putting-out-of-the-lamps game" played in Greenland. This was a sort of combination of seven minutes in heaven, Roman orgy, and prayer meeting. The prayer-meeting aspect failed to overcome the objections of the early Christian missionaries, one of whom called it the "whore game." Those guys really know how to ruin a party. To play at home: gather together a number of married couples (according to some sources, singles could play too); wait for the angekok to contact the spirits; turn out the lights; screw a random member of the opposite sex; turn on the lights. The idea seemed to be that the spirits would be more willing to cooperate if you did it that way. Who are we to disappoint the spirits? This game was played only in Greenland, but other spouse-exchange rituals were practiced elsewhere. One example from Alaska was called the "bladder feast," which sounds a bit less appetizing. (Despite the name, the bladders weren't eaten, and sex was only a minor part of the festivities).

Certainly is a complex issue. It seems bizarre to me that whilst there seems to be this push to make prostitution somehow normal and respectable yet women who indulge in casual, consensual FREE sex are called all kinds of names and are "asking for trouble".

I don't like to see anyone exploited or abused but if my partner was visiting prostitutes, I wouldn't give damn if every hooker from here to Timbuktu was struck down with leprosy and died horribly. But then, I could just be envious of the cash those high-end escorts earn. :)

The complete lack of evidence is the surest sign that the conspiracy is working.

There is an incurable strain of gonorrhea going around, so your words may turn true. And no amount of money can cure it.

I had to laugh at a doco segment where a prostitute spoke scathingly about "charity molls" who picked up strangers (men) at nightclubs. Competition that completely undercuts like that is unwelcome !

LOL, yes they probably would but they would all still be just a touch envious, not disapproving.

Ohh I am about as far away as is humanly possible from achieving awesomeness by bedding every lady at the local shopping centre.

LOL, it is pretty full on, but one has to consider the Isolation the Inuit have always seen as just a part of life. These seemingly strange practise ensures a very strong genetic bloodline. In such isolation, inbreeding would seem easier, but it would eventually genetically destroy the Inuit. I always wonder how this factors in, and how the Inuit could have know this. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

Welcome to UM kara red  Hope you enjoy the place :)
As you probably guessed, if you read all the posts, I started it as a joke because of a news article.  A little juvenile humor never hurts as long as it doesn't get vicious.
