Old abandoned recreational center that was closed down in the early 70's.  Had an Olympic sized pool, bowling alley, kitchen, bathhouse, skating rink.
Took us a while to find it.  We spent about 2 hours of hiking through woods using satellite imagery, got backtracked a few times.
Place had a really eerie feeling to it, especially since a kid committed suicide by jumping into the empty pool about ten years ago.

Only true questionable experience was in the shower house.  When I would approach it, the battery of my phone would go low, and the flashlight would die.  When I moved away, they would regain energy.

Sorry for quality of photos.  Cell phone.  Just posting in a photobucket album because most of the photos were too large to upload to this site itself.

Edit: Sorry again about picture quality.  Hard to function with a phone camera in the dark.  I promise I'll return with more photos once I get a new camera.

Plenty of cool pictures, SB, well done. Nothing paranormal, unexplained or mysterious of course, but great pics. :)

Can I ask you, dear friend, why you are sharing these pictures in this section ?? Doesn't seem like you caught anything strange.

Meh, I labeled it as an "Experience."  The place is pretty eerie, didn't seem fit to post the topic anywhere else.

Damn, really wish there were abandoned places like that near me :(

Anyways, neat photos. But theres one that I have no idea what it is. It's a photo of like a green metal door with a neon light in the shape of a rectangle infront of it or something. Anyone care to enlighten me a little? ><

Fun pictures!  Are you into urban exploring Shrine Builder, or were you just there to check out possible paranormal stuff?

I just enjoy visiting old abandoned establishments around the area.  Most have a few paranormal stories behind them, but I don't go with the mindset of "OH MY GOD GHOST TIME."

Funny story, people were spreading rumors that a pterodactyl was nested in this park.  I've seen it.  And by it, I mean large vultures nest out here.

Abandoned buildings are the best! Did a kid really commit suicide or is it a rumor? I'll have to check out your pictures later.

Well, seeing as it was abandoned in the 70's, and the kid supposedly commited suicide in 2002ish, then the place should have noone around. So the kid must've jumped in, broke a bone, or cracket his neck, and died from bleeding, as I don't see how someone could climb out of a pool that could be 9 feet deep, or call for help when the place is abandoned. Let alone, why would someone trying to commit suicide call for help? But it also depends on how he jumped in, whether it was head first, or jumped in with his legs completely straight to make his shins snap and piece through his skin.

But of course this could all be completely ridiculous rambling if we don't have proof of the suicide.

Cool photos!  Thanks.

I also love crawling around in old buildings.  I like to sit in the quiet and imagine all conversations that happened in a room, all the meals cooked, etc.

Best one I ever found was a condemmed hotel.  We used to go sleep in it and have "wars" with the plethoria of old fire extinguishers.  This was back in the days before paintball.

It was spooky fun in there at night.  The building creaked and moaned LOUDLY all night due to temperature changes.

Hey Shrine Builder...

This park... Is it Spring Recreation Park AKA Old Spring Park by any chance? That sounds like the place you went to, and some of your pics look similar to some pics from there. But that place didn't close down in the 70's. It's pool at least was still supposed to be open till 1990. So I'm not sure if where you went was Spring Rec or not.
Does the pool where you are going have a huge amphitheater of seating along half of it's length?

I don't know if a kid really killed himself out there or not.. But if it is Springs Park, I don't find it impossible to believe a kid could kill himself in that pool. It's an olympic pool that also had a cement diving tower that was four decks high. So swan diving off the top deck into an olympic depth pool could possibly kill you. The diving platform has collapsed into the pool now, but I don't know when that happened.

This is a nice pic of the Spring Rec diving platform. Ok, grr, since I can't get it to load as just an image, here's a nice link to that image. http://lh4.ggpht.com...%255B4%255D.jpg
