New research has suggested that Neanderthals may have created cave paintings before modern humans.

Guardian Unlimited said:

Several times in the past 10 years scientists have had to rewrite the textbooks on Neanderthals, the latest species of human to go extinct.

Does that mean history books will have to re-thought?

Quote

If Neanderthals were decorating their caves, it might mean that language and advanced cognition were present in the human lineage further back than suspected – perhaps since the time of Neanderthals' and modern humans' last common ancestor, who lived at least half a million years ago.

This is a big "If" and yet could could change history as we know it.

Edit to add:  Forbidden Archeology may all of a sudden take another meaning beside being rejected by the "power that be".

Some of that art, especially the bison and hand prints outlines is just amazing to me, and with the hand print outlines I try to imagine as they were being done so very long ago.

This is NOT news...I have my first degree in Anthropology and we learned that Neanderthals were the first to create Art, Burials, Music, Language, and even Astronomy in the form of Art on cave walls..We first noticed markings that indicated recording of the moon phases and locale each night..this eventually led to re examining cave art of animals..originally it was thought these "drawings" were used for aiming practice BUT eventually it was determined to be Animal drawings of which were matched to constellations in the sky during their time..they had created their own "Pictures" in the sky as constellational art...People need to realize that Homo Sapians and Homo Sapian Sapians were NOT the first evolved humans!
